gabriell57
Why are the taxes and fees significantly more on priceline compared to the actual rental company, Orbitz, or Expedia.... Link to comment
thereuare
Can you provide an example of what you're seeing including the dates, city, and car class. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
retropia
My understanding is that Expedia and Orbitz profit is fixed into the daily price of the rental car. Whereas with Priceline, the profit is included in the "rates and taxes" section. So that's why it appears that taxes and fees are higher on Priceline. As long as the total costs quoted are accurate, you can compare accurately. The other thing you have to be careful of is that, at least it used to be, not all travel sites were able to accurately calculate taxes and airport fees in car rental quotes. At one time, only Travelocity had accurate total price quotes. This may have changed, as I haven't used any of those sites for car rentals in a long time. Now I either reserve directly from the rental company or through Priceline. Link to comment
