bargainhunter2
I am getting very high quotes for a rental car p/u Aug 9th 8PM, return Aug. 20 10AM at the Denver airport. The quotes are $600-$800. Help, I need to do better than that. This is for 3 adults and luggage, so I'm looking at a compact to mid size. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Link to comment

bargainhunter2
Yesterday, the rate was with Budget for a Dodge Magnum type and I can't remember whether that was with taxes which are running about $200. I guess I'm spoiled, I rented a car in San Diego last month for a week for about $150. It was a compact. Link to comment
thereuare
Every market is different. As well, you're looking for an 11 day rental just 3 days before your rental begins... if any agency is sold-out of the car class you're seeking for just one day of the 11, then you're out of luck as that agency won't be available. Rental agencies are known to overbook, perhaps some are actually sold-out but willing to "take the chance" that somebody else during your rental period won't show (or cancel) and for the right price they're willing to take that chance (and the heat from an irate customer)Please use this HOTWIRE link if you go that route... or our BUDGET link if you go that route (or any of the other car rental agency links in our support page.
