BeachBum
This was my second PL rental of the weekend as my stay was extended and I made a same-day bid. Hotwire was showing $21 for midsize so I went $5 lower on PL and was accepted immediately. At the Hertz counter, the agent said they were out of midsizes and tried to "upgrade" me to a gas-guzzling SUV but I told them that wasn't an upgrade and pitched a small fit. Darned if they didn't find a midsize after all - there was a whole row of them in the #1 Gold aisle. My first rental was a Toyota Corolla stripped to the bare minimum -- no cruise control or power seats or remote control on the keyring. The second rental of the weekend was also a Corolla, but tricked out with power everything and MUCH more comfortable. I guess Hertz now has a barebones Priceline fleet. Interesting. Link to comment
