Hotwire Hotel: 4.5* London (The City-Financial District) Crowne Plaza

I also received the 4.5 Crowne Plaza-City 2-6 June for $127/nt for 3 rooms, had seen at at about $179.00 for several days then jumped on it at the lower price I saw one day, based on the info I saw here as to which hotel it likely was... Immediattly after I tried for another room for the same dates but it jumped to $197 and been going up day by day to $265/nt now.

It seems to pay if you have time to look at the price for a few days, if the first one is not to your liking

I agree with you about never knowing when is best to purchase. We hope the price goes down, and sometimes it does, but so often goes up. You never know. So as you say, when it looks good grab it. I have found this site so very helpful on getting a sense of what the price can be.
