Hi, a newbie here. Thanks for this helpful site! I will be in Vegas and need a room for Sat 3/10 and Sun 3/11. Yikes, I realize there is a NASCAR event and the prices are quite high for Saturday! Do the high prices mean there will be limited rooms released to Priceline?

I am willing to split bids because there are definitely deals available for Sun 3/11.

For Sat, I'd love to find a 4*, but at this point I realize I can't be too choosy. Would it be realistic to find a decent 3* on the Strip (or even Freemont - Golden Nugget 4*) for under $180 or so on Saturday? Would you recommend another area instead (like Airport or West) just for Sat night?

I have a room at the Golden Nugget for the rest of the week, but thought it would be fun to experience the Strip. Although at current prices, my heart is not set on it - just on a reasonably priced room on Saturday! I am very flexible. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

If you're looking to stay on the strip for part of your stay i think you have the timeframe backwards... you'd want to stay downtown during the tight availability period and on the strip during the easy availabilty. What are the date(s) you're at the Nugget and what is the rate? Is there a reason you're not staying there on Sunday as well?

I am at the Nugget for a meeting (at no cost to me) from 3/12 to 3/15. I added a couple days at the beginning of my stay for a vacation, so now I need to find a room just for 3/10 and 3/11. I may try bids on the Nugget for these nights, but thought I'd ask for any feedback doing so. Hope that clarifies my situation. Thanks!

OK, thanks for the feedback. I will use the site's preferred links for any bids and report results.

I am also considering staying in Primm for Saturday night (I found a $55 rate) since I thought about visiting the outlets anyway and wouldn't mind the drive. I appreciate the site and help.

I just finished doing some research on Primm hotels, since we may end up staying there Friday, March 9. I studied all the tripadvisor reviews and noticed several reports of bed bugs at Buffalo Bills, and clear evidence of an infestation in 2006. They are very difficult to conquer, so I wouldn't advise staying there for awhile.... Whiskey Petes's received much better overall reviews than Primm Valley, but all of these Primm hotels seem to get extreme reviews -- love'm or hate'm. I did a tour of Primm Valley last year and can vouch for several of the recurring complaints -- room service food in the hallways, very long check-in lines, tired looking rooms (and the one I peeked in reeked of smoke), and a terrible coffee shop. I don't know as much about Whiskey Pete's, but their check-in line was not as long, and their themed casino seemed more lively and interesting. Expedia can show some great rates....(use the link from this site). I think I read that the Station casino chain has purchased all three of them. If so, maybe at some point they will choose to update and clean them up... :)
