jadejay2
Hi, I am looking for 2 rooms for 6/2/07 - 6/3/07 in Vancouver and find the following 4-star hotel in Vancouver:4-Star hotel in Downtown Vancouver Entertainment DistrictSuiteFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessKitchenetteAny idea? jadejay2
One more question . . .There are not too many options for 4* and 5* hotels for June 07 on Hotwire. Is it because it's too early? When would be a good time to look? Link to comment
jadejay2
I am looking for 2 rooms in a 4-star hotel in Vancouver (6/2/07 - 6/3/07) and Seattle (6/3/07 - 6/4/07). Is now too early to bid for those dates on Priceline? Any suggestion on bidding strategy? Thanks! Link to comment

jadejay2
What's a reasonable bid for a 4-star in Vancouver in early June? I went up to $139 on Priceline and got rejected. What do you think about this hotel from Hotwire? Any idea?4-Star hotel in Downtown Vancouver Entertainment DistrictSuiteFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessKitchenette Link to comment
thereuare
The HOTWIRE hotel above is a match for the Westin Grand so that would be our best guess.Based upon your current rejected bid, obviously it will take at least $140... but probably less than $159/nite (at least you shouldn't bid more than that). However, since the above is likely the Westin Grand, if you like that property, it may be better to spend the extra few dollars to be able to target that property (or if the convenience of a kitchenette appeals to you).If you do book the above please use this HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase. If you'd rather try Priceline let us know your maximum bid (which i assume would be less than $159) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. jadejay2
Thanks for the reply.Let's say the max. bid for the Vancouver hotel is $150. Can you suggest a strategy for Priceline?By the way, is it too early to bid for hotels in June 07?Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
As far as "when to bid" see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.You could wait and see prices come down... but you could wait and see prices go up. It all depends pon how expected bookings come in relative to actual bookings (keeping in mind events which may effect demand, such as how many cruise ships will be in port that day). Basically you have to know what you're willing to pay and what a good deal is and then act upon it.For instance, the Marriott is currently showing sold-out for your dates... but some of the other hotels show rates which are 'reasonable' and for which it would seem you would have already been accepted for your dates. Please read the link above and let us know if you want to bid now or waiting a bit... we'll then be able to suggest a strategy based upon the most current rates when you're ready to bid. jadejay2
OK. I am ready to bid, with a max. of $150 per room per night for a 4* Vancouver hotel. What's the strategy? Thanks for your help! Link to comment
thereuare
You have three re-bid zones when bidding 4* in Vancouver. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Downtown and re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Downtown and re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Downtown and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150.The above takes into account your already previously rejected bid(s).Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. jadejay2
used savingsbarn.com and followed the strategy suggested here . . . The first 3 bids got rejected, and then I bidded at $139 and "won" the Westin Grand. I don't know if it is a good deal for that hotel but I am happy with it.Thank you for all the help! thereuare
Congratulations on your win. Hotel direct rates at this property for this nite are $225(US) so i think you did just fine :)Do you recall the amount of your previously rejected bid? (ie- the amount of your highest rejected bid prior to this winning bid)Thank you for posting and for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. jadejay2
The last rejected bid was $135, and I thought, heck, lots of people seem to use $139 for some reasons so why not give it a try? Thanks for the help! Link to comment
