sixfingered
Hello, This is my first time finding this forum. I have used priceline for san diego before and gotten 2 different 3 star hotels for between 50-55 dollars. I now need a room for 2 people for the dates 11/17/06 to 11/19/06. I didn't get accepted bids for bids up to 60$. I then realised that that is the weekend before thanksgiving so hotels are usually pretty booked. So my question is has anyone had a successful bid for a thanksgiving weekend and maybe give me some guidence on what i should bid. Thanks in advance for any help. Link to comment
thereuare
What zone(s) are you bidding within San Diego? What is your maximum bid? With the above info we'll be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow. sixfingered
I have tried a lot of zones, i usually get mission valley or del mar. I will have a car though so the area is really no concern to me since san diego is not a huge city and i know my way around well. As for maximum bid i suppose 75$ since i have gotten 50-55 dollar rooms in the past. Link to comment
thereuare
Your accepted bids in the past may or may not have anything to do with this stay... rates are date specific, and obviusly $55 is not currently enough for these dates since you have already tried and your bids were rejected.Let us know exactly which zones (by priceline name) you are willing to accept and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. sixfingered
I would be willing to accept hotels in these areas:Coronado, Del Mar, Downtown San Diego & Harbor Island, Mission Valley, Point Loma - Shelter Island - Old Town, San Diego Coastal , and Sorrento Mesa. thereuare
There are no 3* or higher hotels in Sorrento Mesa so we will scratch that from the list of acceptable areas. To make this as simple as possible (while still getting a good price :) i would proceed as follows (assuming you have aleady tried all of these zones above up to $60, as you previously posted):You have seven re-bid zones available when bidding 3* in San Diego. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Coronado, Del Mar, Downtown-Harbor Island, Mission Valley, Point Loma-Shelter Island-Old Town, and Coastal (in other words all the acceptable zones you've listed above, except Sorrento Mesa)....Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75.Any questions feel free to ask. sixfingered
Ok did the bidding strategy that you suggested. My last bid of 75 was finally accepted :). What i got was the 3* Marriott San Diego Del Mar for the dates 11/17/06-11/19/06 for $75 per night. Not too bad and i checked the hotels website it seems nice, I am happy. Thanks for your help.
