headtrip
I checked with the Anaheim Crowne Plaza Resort and the $9.00 you listed as a resort fee is actually a self-parking fee (or $12 for valet). Link to comment
AztecWolverine
Historically they called it a resort fee, and often never told people about it until they checked out. There have been MANY disputes over this. Even when people did not have a car the fee was charged. I would suggest that for anyone that stays at the Crowne Plaza that they get the names of people they speak with, and get it in writing at check in whether there will be ANY extra charges. Some people have reported that they asked if there were any extra charges, and were told no--just hotel taxes. Then at check-out, VOILA! - the $9/day charge was listed. If they don't have a car, have them state, in writing, at check-in that there will be no additional charges. Someone on another board recently copied from their web site the following policy, which you can only uncover if you click on an obscure "More Info" button:"The hotel charges a nominal daily resort fee of $9.00 per day, which includes: Self parking, Disney Resort Shuttle, Access to the Fitness Center, use of the Business Center and a California Tourism Fee and Marketing Assessment. "This policy obviously conflicts with the last poster's phone conversation with them, in which they incorrectly labeled it a parking fee. So in my mind they are still up to their deceptive tricks, or, at minimum, have terribly bad and inconsistent training of employees. For according to this stated policy, they could still charge you if you do not have a car, because they would then presume that you would be utilizing the services of the trolley...And other hotels typically eat the CA Tourism fee, which amounts to only about $1/night. This is called nickel and diming...Always check on Disney area hotels whether there will be a separate charge for transportation to Disney.(Many hotels include the Anaheim trolley in their rates, but some charge extra for it). And while some hotels charge for parking, most do not.I hope someday they will see the light, and be more upfront and honest than they have been in the past. But their track record has been poor for customer relations for years.... Link to comment
