exploring
Got first bid on 4* Downtown/Soho on 8/15, so could have probably gotten cheaper. Linked through savingbarn.com. Hotel was great and we had no problem getting two beds. Only negative was the expensive internet (69 cents per minute in business office). Even though it's far downtown (next door to WTC), it was convenient to everything for walking (to soho or village areas) and subway.Semi related note: we split our bid and were unsuccessful for the dates 8/14-8/16. We bid up to $145 on a 2.5* or higher in any area and didn't get anything, so got a $147 room at Comfort Inn in upper west side for those nights via hotwire. Super location, and tolerable hotel.
