waltero61
Just booked next years Easter vacation trip on Hotwire.comFor $76 per night (total of $775.32 including taxes) for 9 nights, I got the 3* Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Alexandria Historic District, 625 First Street, Alexandria, Virginia, 22314.Amenities listed were: airport shuttle, fitness center, pool(s), restaurant(s), and laundry facilities. It is also currently list as a BEST VALUE.Best available price on the Holiday Inn website was $191 per night (total of $1934.73 including taxes) for the same 9 nights. A savings of $1159.41 or 60%. Not bad for a couple of hours of Internet investigation. There is also a $12 per night + tax parking fee. Not bad considering the area. They have an indoor/outdoor pool, free internet access (not listed as amenity), and local shuttle service to Old Town and the Metro (also not listed as amenity, only airport shuttle is listed). In addition, it is only as 0.7 mile walk to the Braddock Road Metro stop if you prefer not to take the shuttle or don't want to wait for it. The Braddock Road Metro stop is on either the Blue or Yellow line which pretty much takes you anywhere you want to go in the downtown D.C. area.Anyone interested in visiting D.C. next Easter should probably jump on this one quickly. Just a sampling of the rates in the D.C. area for that time of year is enough to scare you away from visiting one of the coolest areas in the country (IMHO).Will review hotel upon return.Better Bidding to all !!!!!Walter Link to comment
