nodda
HelloI won a Grand Hyatt, NEW YORK for $150.00 ($178.00 with taxes) for AUG 20-23.I basically checked all the area MTE, MTW, UTE, UTW.My offer was accepted at 150.00 which was the first bid.Is this a good deal? I know it's too late now but I wonder ifI should have started out lower. Just thinking may be I could have gota lower rate, had I not put in $150.00 on my first bid : PI actually tried to bid for 4 stars in NY on AUG 7-13 the other day.It went up to $160 but wasn't accepted.Has anyone stay at the Grand Hyatt? Is there complimentary breakfast?I contacted the hotel but haven't heard back yet.I also booked another 3 stars hotel called PARK SOUTH for AUG 7-13 at the rate of $172.00taxed not included. This includes free breakfast.I'm not sure if I should stick with PARK SOUTH on those datesor try Priceline. What do you think?thanks! Link to comment

thereuare
Why wouldn't you try for a higher rated hotel for a lower price? (or a similarly rated hotel a lower price if you're comfortable with an opaque purchase at the 3* level)However, if you want to go that route i'd suggest asking for a bidding strategy first to make sure you don't overbid. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
tbenson81
Am wondering also if this is a good hotel - am trying to get this also through priceline Link to comment
KatiesMom
Please read my review on this site about the Grand Hyatt. I think it is a very nice hotel. It is geared towards business so not tourist-centric, but that didn't matter to me.Rooms are a decent size, not huge, tastefully decorated in Asian-Modern-Minimalism. Bathrooms are small but functional as are most in NYC hotels. Location is great right next to Grand Central Terminal and subways.I recommend signing up for Hyatt's frequent guest program (it's free you can do it online). They give you some perks if you sign up and possibly you could get an upgrade... I found the front desk very pleasant to deal with, and when I wanted to stash some bags for a few hours...it was free... Link to comment
nodda
Hi KatiesmomThanks a lot for your post and tips.I will check out your review.I'm thinking of bidding for the rest of my stay via Pricelinebut I'm a bit worried that it might be difficult to get requested roomwhen booked through Priceline.I tried MTE and MTW for up to $125 yesterday but wasn't accepted : )thanks again!T Link to comment
