Bruce
I bid (using the Savings Barn link) $40 for a 2.5 start hotel at Memphis Airport. This bid was rejected. Any ideas, and any ideas what hotel this might be? Date of travel: May 21.Thanks,Bruce Link to comment
thereuare
Do you have a maximum bid in mind? There is a Radisson available for $74 and a Clarion available for net $63/nite + tax (see below)For the Clarion:Book thru this Clarion link, select the Internet rate of $72/nite.Then file their "best internet rate guarantee" vs. Expedia which has this room for $70/nite. Their best rate guarantee matches the rate and gives an additional 10% off, bringing the cost down to $63/nite. Only thing that i could see going 'wrong' is that the total cost from Expedia would be more after you include their fee, but most of these 'best rate' guarantees are based solely upon room price. If they didn't honor it, the room is cancellable anyway so i don't think you have much too lose.Bottomline: What is your maximum bid? How much would you need to save vs. either of the above in order to go with an opaque purchase. Bruce
I have to admit, money is not really an object for this trip. Priceline is the only "gambling" I do - just don't want to over-bid.Bruce Link to comment
Bruce
That was easy - can't believe that Clarion responded within a few minutes with the $63 rate.Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
Glad that honored their guarantee on a room rate basis. So are you content with sticking with that or did you still want to try Priceline? Bruce
I tried Priceline again - $40 / 2 Star hotel and got the Radisson at Memphis Airport. It's interesting that on Expedia this is a *** property. Link to comment
thereuare
Goes to show you how often inventory can, and does, change!I assume this is 2* rated and you weren't upgraded to a 2.5* hotel on this bid? Thanks for the report. Bruce
No upgrade. This is a 2 star hotel on Priceline. Link to comment
