marievad
Hello, It's my first time with Priceline and i'm not really sure on how it works. I'm afraid to end up with an hotel that i don't want or in the wrong area. We don't know which hotel it is until we pay. Is that correct? Thank you for helping me please. Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. 😀 Your options are: PRICELINE bidding: you choose the star rating and zone (PRICELINE shows you the boundary lines of the zone before purchase.) You have to be willing to stay at any hotel at the star rating chosen in the zone/s picked. Bids can potentially be upgraded to the next star rating up, but this is seen pretty infrequently. If the bid is not accepted, the service will tell you and you can try again to make that specific bid in 2 hours PRICELINE Express and HOTWIRE: You are shown a series of listings with star rating, amenities, price and zone. Given the information given one can often make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing. PRICELINE EXPRESS is often slightly-to-mildly more expensive than bidding, but given the ability to make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing there a greater chance that you can get a hotel more of interest. There are currently 5% off promotions for HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS (see my signature), but not for PRICELINE bidding. For all 3, you are not shown the name of the hotel until after purchase and at that point you cannot cancel or change the reservation. Please let us know dates of travel, zone/s of interest and desired budget and we would be happy to research and offer suggestions on how to proceed. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. thereuare
I'm extremely knowledgeable about the NYC area (and about PRICELINE and HOTWIRE too!) Let us know the dates of your stay, your desired budget (per nite before fees/taxes), and any other requirements you have for this trip and we will suggest the best options. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. marievad
Thanks for your fast response. It's my first time in New-York and many people told me that i should stay in Manhattan. I would like to pay maximum 200$ a night for a 4* or higher. I'm going there from august 9 to august 12. Link to comment
AaronJB
I'm seeing a number of options within your desired budget on PRICELINE EXPRESS (please confirm the correct dates of travel are showing on the detail page after clicking the links below.) 4* Empire State Building Area (<<<--- CLICK HERE to go direct to the listing) for $141 Fitness Center Business Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Best guess would be the St Giles the Tuscany. The listing has a 9+ customer rating, so reviews are quite good. 4* Midtown East (<<<--- CLICK HERE to go direct to the listing) for $170 Pets Allowed Fitness Center Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet >>>Best guess would be the Maxwell 4.5* Midtown East (<<<--- CLICK HERE to go direct to the listing) for $181 Fitness Center Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Best guess would be the Benjamin 4* Grand Central Terminal - UN (<<<--- CLICK HERE to go direct to the listing) for $182 Fitness Center Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet >>>Best guess would be the Grand Hyatt HOTWIRE: 4* HOTWIRE Times Square for $164.00 Complimentary Breakfast Free Internet Boutique Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> Best guess would be the Premier 4.5* HOTWIRE Rockefeller Center for $183.73 Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible ==> Best guess would be the Omni Berkshire 4.5* HOTWIRE Empire State Building - Bryant Park for $151.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet ==> This would be a potential match for the Royalton 4* HOTWIRE Empire State Building - Bryant Park for $142.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet ==> Best guess would be the Affinia 50 A bit above budget: 5* HOTWIRE Empire State Building - Bryant Park for $217.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet ==> Best guess would be the Refinery Hotel 5* HOTWIRE Chelsea - Greenwich Village for $211.00 Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ==> Best guess would be the Kimpton Eventi So definitely a number of options within budget before taxes/fees. marievad
I was very interest by The Refinery Hotel at 217.00$ but i can't find it on HOTWIRE. Am i doing something wrong? Also i tried to bid with PRICELINE but nothing seems to work, every offer that i made was not accept. Is there a place that i can see what i should bid on for every star rating? Thank you! Am i doing something wrong? I'm still seeing it. If you search using our BiddingHelper.com tool and in the EASY VIEW tab look on the left side of the page and filter the results by placing a checkmark only next to 'Empire State Building - Bryant Park' and only next to 5*... do you then see a hotel offered for $217/nite? If not, are you searching for something other than the default 1room/2adults/0children... and to confirm your dates are Aug 9-12? marievad
Yes now i see it, thanks! I forgot to say that my budget was about 200$ CAD money. Link to comment
thereuare
From the long list of hotels that AaronJB researched above you can see that $150-$200 USD is really the 'sweet spot' for 4+ star rated hotels for your dates... trying to land under that is going to limit your options. How about: 4* Empire State Building Area (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $141/nite with: Fitness Center Business Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> St. Giles - The Tuscany is the best guess for this one... there is also a $30/nite resort fee, but it's a very well reviewed property or at the 4.5* level: 4.5* Rockefeller Center - Bryant Park (<-- CLICK HERE confirm your dates on the landing page) for $164/nite with: Pets Allowed Fitness Center Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet ==> best guess here would be the Omni Berkshire Place... about $28/nite in resort fees on top of the room rate above Do either of these work for your needs and budget this trip? (or is The Refinery worth the added expense to you?) marievad
I'm not sure yet on what to do. Is there a way to see if a particular hotel offers a great deal? Link to comment
AaronJB
There is no way to guarantee a particular hotel and not all hotels offer discounted rates for each set of dates. There are a number of very good options in the lists above, including the Omni and - while somewhat over budget (although there is the 5% off promotion in my signature) - the Refinery. Are you looking for something in particular (specific amenities, near particular sights, etc) in terms of hotel? Do you have an idea on these hotel, please? 4.5-Star Hotel for $230/nite Empire State Building Area Free Internet, Pets Allowed, Fitness Center, Bed Choice, Non Smoking, Restaurant Guess rating 7+ 4.5-Star Hotel for $254/nite Downtown - Wall Street Business Center, Free Internet, Pets Allowed, Fitness Center, Bed Choice, Non Smoking, Restaurant Guess rating 9+ Link to comment
thereuare
Let's stop and backtrack as i think you're getting further away from what it is that you should be looking for... Are the prices above in USD or CAD? Please post to the board in USD so that all rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation based upon future currency fluctuations. Regardless if the rates above are USD or CAD, they both appear to be over your stated goal of $200/nite. Have you now changed your maximum budget... if so what is your budget in USD? marievad
Sorry i forgot to tell the name of the hotel and it's exactly the Andaz that i was thinking of. I stayed at the Andaz in West Hollywood last year and i loved it. How long do you think the offer will be there? Link to comment
thereuare
Nobody can say if it will be offered up until the day of your stay or if it disappears the next time you search... If it's what you want why not buy it now?
