lilcatkht
There will be 5 of us going to NYC soon. My husband, myself and 3 kids-6, 8, and 10. My kids can all fit in a queen bed. But I realized Hotwire only accepts 4 guests. Anyone have any problems putting down 4 guests but end up with 5 at the hotel? Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! This could be problematic, especially in NYC as: -a high percentage of rooms only have one bed and the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed (which could also potentially be smaller than a Queen size) -NYC rooms with 2 beds are often doubles... not necessarily queens -fire code regulations could indicate a maximum of 4 guests in a 'standard' room (although odds favor that you won't have a front desk make an issue out of it, especially if the 'extra' guests are children) The best option you have is to find a HOTWIRE that shows a Bed Choice option where one of those options is for a room with 2 Queen beds... but even then i would be somewhat discreet at check-in and not have all 5 guests go up to the check-in desk together just to be on the safe side. What are the actual dates of your trip (or is that not yet determined)? What is your maximum budget for this trip (per nite before fees/taxes)? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. lilcatkht
WE'll be there 4/4-4/10. Our budget is around $250. What areas do you recommend that are family friendly outside of TS? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Most zones in the immediate area surrounding Times Square are sufficient, but it goes deeper than that, trying more to determine the actual hotel and the location of the specific property. For example: 4.5* HOTWIRE Times Square for $230.00 Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ==> best guess for this property would be the Kimpton Ink48, which while in the Times Square zone, is a bit too far east to be considered convenient, imo, and you certainly would not feel like you were in Times Square given that it's more of an industrial area On the otherhand: 4* Midtown East (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $157/nite with: Business Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> the Fifty NYC-an Affinia hotel would be my best guess here and would be more in 'the city' than the Ink48 above and also better access to the subway NOTE: that the reason for the large price difference is that the HOTWIRE offer above is for searching 2adults/2children whereas this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer is only for 2 adults, although a 2 Queen room is available for $173/nite (and a 2 Queen studio for $194/nite) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed (or how it goes if you take either of the offers above) and we'll take it from there. lilcatkht
Thank you so much. I saw Homewood Suites Midtown Manhattan on PRICELINE. 1 King and sofa. Homewood suites has "kids stay free" and is $249/night. It also has free breakfast and mini kitchen which is perfect for us. I think we'll go ahead and book them through your site. Thanks!
