rich00
One night trip 1/20-1/21. No car, will be relying on mass transit/uber/etc. Want to be located in a good spot for typical sight-seeing stuff and pizza. :) No set budget (but not looking to pay too much above $100 before tax/fees as it seems rooms are pretty reasonable during this time). What areas do you think wld work for a short "See as much as you can in 36hrs kind of trip". Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
There are plenty of options within your budget... what are the most important aspects to you for this trip? (price, location, hotel reviews, star rating, certain amenities, etc?) What sight seeing do you have planned (as things like Grant Park, Navy Pier, Hancock Tower, Museums, Aquarium, etc. are in different areas... knowing what things you intend on doing/seeing/visiting during your trip will help us make the best recommendation for your needs. AaronJB
If you are going to be trying to see as much as possible during the day, it becomes trying to get something very nice and yet isn't expensive because you're not going to be using the hotel that much. On PRICELINE EXPRESS (please confirm that the correct date of travel is showing on the detail page after clicking the links below.) 4.5* Downtown - River North for $78 Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Guess would be the Godfrey, which I've stayed at previously and liked. Easy walk to a lot of River North restaurants. The Chicago Red Line station isn't that far of a walk. Winters in recent years in Chicago have been not as bad as they used to be decades ago, but in January you still want to be conveniently located and when you're North of the river, the River North properties are generally closer to the Red Line. Most of the 4* and 3.5* properties are around the same price ($65-80.) Would this possibility be of interest? I'm very familiar with Chicago and would be happy to answer any city questions. Let us know what you decide or if we can be of any further assistance. rich00
TBH we don't really have any plans yet as we still have a Cabo and a NYC (which you guys helped us out w/ the hotel) trip before this one. It was a spur of the moment, $32 flights kind of a deal. Only thing we for sure will be doing is going to one of either Willis Tower Skydeck or Signature Room @ John Hancock building. My wife has lived her whole life in CA/AZ so cold weather not necessarily her best friend so outside of the tower and the bean we will be doing mostly eating/drinking/relaxing and if time permits maybe check out one of the museums. The PRICELINE EXPRESS deal above seems like the best value, anyone have any xp with Hyatt Regency Chicago (I think that is the other express deal that seems like similar value): 4-Star Hotel Downtown Chicago - Millennium Park Area We'll reveal the hotel name and address after you book This deal saves you 46% or more compared to similar hotels $92/night Seems like similar quality, location, reviews but $18 more. Is it safe to assume Godfrey is as good or better for less $$? Link to comment
thereuare
Confirm your dates on the landing page after clicking the links provided below: 4* Downtown Chicago - Millennium Park for $92 Business Center Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess would be the Hyatt Regency Chicago Bidding on PRICELINE is still usually the least expensive, but the difference is usually fairly small that it's better to go with PRICELINE EXPRESS if you're trying to have a guess as to the property offered, would like to try to target a certain location, need certain amenities, or there are properties you're hoping to avoid. AaronJB
The Hyatt is fine, but it is a giant (largest hotel in the city) convention property and personally, I'd rather the Godfrey for less. I'd definitely suggest the Art Institute in terms of museums and there's a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance of the Godfrey in River North. rich00
Thought I completed this prior. You were correct, it was The Godfrey. Link to comment
