Smully-p
I'm headed to Vegas for a convention on 10/10/17-10/14/17, im looking to stay near convention at ballys, but not wanting to stay there, want to get a 5* in the LV strip Cental West, current express deal is $158/night (vdara?) Hotwire central strip fountains area $125 a night (definitely vdara). I'm using your links to get to sites to look this up. My question is that a good price, is there a good strategy to start bidding, obviously I have a lot of time until conference. What price should I be starting at? Familiar with the bidding and zones. thereuare
You have a few conferences taking place during your dates: 10/10-10/12 12K attendees 10/10-10/12 25K attendees 10/15-10/18 14K attendees (this starts the day after your departure but many will arrive the nite before increasing demand for the nite of 10/14) So you have 37K worth of demand for 10/10-10/12 which is moderate for Las Vegas... rates won't be rock bottom, but they won't be sky high either. Note that the $125/nite deal you're looking at could be the Jet Luxury at the Vdara (not sure if this matters to you or not)... and the $158/nite hotel i'm currently seeing thru PRICELINE EXPRESS i don't believe is the Vdara (which is why it's important that you include the amenities that are associated with the hotel offers you're seeing). This is the 5* LV Strip - Central West PRICELINE EXPRESS offer i'm currently seeing for your dates (confirm your dates on the link provided below): 5* LV Strip - Central West for $158 Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> if this is the one you're seeing, my best guess for this one would be The Cosmopolitan (which would be a pretty good discount vs. current rates thru traditional booking channels if this is a property that you would be interested in) If you could choose, what would be your ideal property for this stay? Smully-p
No real ideal property, it is more the location, and the stars. I would like a really nice property with walkable distance to Bally's for my conference. we are not much of gamblers, casino is of no importance. More interested in amenities ect. I am open to other suggestions as well. $125/night is certainly not a bad price, makes me think that it is possible to bid a better price? Appreciate the help and thoughts. Link to comment
thereuare
If you bid you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose, which doesn't sound like much of an issue given that you say you're flexible. However, if the $125/nite hotel above is the Jet Luxury at the Vdara, this property has not yet been reported to the board thru PRICELINE (only the 'actual' Vdara itself)... so it may or may not be able to be won for less. If you want to try bidding let us know which zone(s) are acceptable, and your maximum bid, and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Smully-p
Really location is the deciding factor, anywhere on the LV strip central west or even LV strip central east. 5* properties. $125 is what I am hoping on paying a night, knowing that I will have to pay resort fees. thereuare
When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have FOURTEEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 5* LV Strip Central West and LV Strip Central East Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125 Any questions feel free to ask (especially confirming your re-bid zones if you're new to the subject or unsure) Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Smully-p
Not having the best luck, have been using the links above. I've been shut out about 4 times so far. I did book directly with Vdara as it is our hotel of choice, will cancel if I get lucky with Priceline. I will keep thread up to date. Max bids have been$125. No rush to go much higher at this time Link to comment
thereuare
What is your back-up rate at the Vdara? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? (staying at one hotel the first 3 nites of your trip and then a different hotel the last nite)? For 10/10-10/13 i'm seeing this offer (confirm your dates on the landing page): 5* The Strip - Southwest for $129 Pets Allowed Business Center Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess for this would be The Vdara Then for the nite of 10/13 you could: 1) take the following offer to make your stay complete at the Vdara (again, confirm your dates on the landing page): 5* The Strip - Southwest for $185 Pets Allowed Business Center Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> this, combined with the 3 nites above, would give you an average rate of $143/nite 2) book a rate at a different hotel for the last nite of your trip, perhaps even going down in star rating. This could be thru PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, or a 'regular rate hotel' (non-refundable if you're happy with the option for the last nite... or refundable (try our sister site RefundableRates.com) if you'd still be holding out hope for a lower rate at the Vdara for the last nite Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
