gemo5566
Hi I found this PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for a 4 night stay arriving 05/29/17 leaving 06/02/17 1 room it says 5 star express deal hotel and casino $89.00 a night ameneties are Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities strange thing about this one , when I click to book , it says nowhere mandatory fee to pay at hotel ?? just the rate and the taxes for a total of $425.76 for the 4 night stay for example , the $87 a night deal for a 5* south strip , same dates , ads $156.80 to pay at hotel to my total what would your guess be , or is it an error and I will have to pay at the hotel ? Thanks in advance for your answer As always , used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on your site to start my search Link to comment
thereuare
For this offer (confirm your dates on the landing page): 5* Las Vegas Strip South for $89 Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> my guess would be the Cosmopolitan which does in fact charge a resort fee (slight chance it could be the Jet Luxury at Vdara as a secondary guess, but i believe the Cosmo is the more likely of the two). Although PRICELINE (and HOTWIRE) have gotten substantially better at showing resort fees prior to purchase, there are a few hotels where this may not be shown prior to the the purchase. Although you may have a better case in trying to dispute the resort fee (which are getting increasingly more difficult to dispute and/or get waived), it is in the terms that you agree to when you use their service that you will pay the hotel directly for any resort fees that may be charged. patmcpsu
I agree with thereuare that it's probably either Vdara or Cosmopolitan. However, I'm looking at my own dates (1/8-1/11) right now and notice an additional hint based on the following options: 5-Sar Express Deal Hotel: $85 Las Vegas Strip South 5-Sar Express Deal Hotel and Casino: $97 Las Vegas Strip South Vdara is a non-gaming property, so it is likely the $85 option. Cosmopolitan (which has a casino and is generally more expensive than Vdara) is probably the $97 option. This is reaffirmed by the room choices, as the $85 property offers a "Vdara Suite". Both properties charge a resort fee of about $35/nt, and both show the "Additional Mandatory Fee" of $117.60 (which equates to $35/nt +12% tax) on the price roll-up. My best guess is that Priceline doesn't forecast resort fees for some hotels if the booking is far in advance, as resort fees increase annually and are collected at the time-of-stay. The other guess is that they've "fixed the glitch" during the past week. In short, the "and casino" designation (or lack thereof) is a helpful hint. Off the top of my head, non-gaming properties on the strip include: The Delano The Signature at MGM Grand Vdara Trump Elara (Hilton Grand Vacations) I doubt these will ever be a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal on Priceline, but for the sake of completeness: The Four Seasons and the Mandarin Oriental Link to comment
gemo5566
thanks patmcpsu for your replie just started this topic to know if there are hotels without resort fees and , if nothing is mentionned when you book on Priceline or Hotwire , do you have to pay at the hotel or not anyway , I emailed Priceline and this was the answer i got " If there is nothing mentioned on the contract page, hotel might not charge the mandatory fees. However, your confirmed hotel may charge yourcard certain mandatory hotel specific service fees. For specific information on additional hotel fees, we ask that you contact the hotel directly as they will be applying these charges. I would recommend you to contact the hotel beforehand and confirm the same. We look forward to serving your future travel needs for your trip to LasVegas. Sincerely," Answered that it is hard to contact the hotel if you don't know the name before actually booking !! just found it strange that this is the only express deal that doesn't put the fees on the total when you try to book ( the 2 5*hotels Las Vegas south offers are still on Priceline for my dates , a $87 a night deal with $156.80 fees and a $89 deal no fees ) even when I try a " name your own price " , the $156.80 fees are mentionned anyway , still looking for a good deal and have almost 5 months left to decide Link to comment
AaronJB
Resort fees are charged at the hotel, as are any optional fees (internet, etc.) Unfortunately, many hotels in Vegas do charge resort fees. Both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE generally do show mandatory fees when booking, but if they happen to have missed one (or the fee was recently added), then you are still responsible to pay it directly to the hotel, although as noted above, you do stand a better chance at disputing it and getting it waived. Are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel (max budget, location, style or other factors?) gemo5566
Thanks for your replie AaronJB Considering all you mentioned , would your guess also be Cosmopolitan for this one like thereuaere said ? for sure , if I could avoid the $154 resort fee , this would be a great deal No particular hotel in mind for my search , I always look for a good deal , especially in Vegas stayed already in Mandalay Bay , Vdara , Aria , Trump and HRH Hard Rock , all good stays Link to comment

You may have more of a leg to stand on in trying to dispute it, but as i also noted above, it's becoming increasingly more and more difficult to get the fee waived. Resort fees have become ubiquitous in Las Vegas and (afaik) charged by all 4* and higher hotels on the strip (there may be an exception or two at 'time share / condo' type of properties). gemo5566
A few days after I started this post , the resort fee was mentionned After my win for my other stay ( see my other priceline bidding post ) I received a few hours later a mail with a 10% discount for a new reservation so price went down from $91 to $82 a night plus taxes and resort fee Don't think I can find a better deal than this one and it's nice to try another hotel amenities where mentionned earlier in this post As usual , used the PRICELINE links on your site to begin my search Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Looks like another nice deal, and between this win and your previous purchase, it appears that you'll have both ends of the strip covered no matter what activities you have planned in the city. Thank you for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase and sharing your win. Have a great trip!
