FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access

 

3) 4.5* - Water Tower - 148.- USD

FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services

 

There are a couple of other offers but they are higher. I have also seen some 4* offers, and wonder how great a difference there would be in your estimation between 4 and 4.5 stars. I have always gone for the 4.5, hoping to get a better hotel. I will be two days in wonderful Chicago and want to be in the middle of things and in a lovely hotel. Could you help?

Personally, I think the Intercontinental is a very nice property for less than the other options, is in a superior location right on Michigan Ave near the river and has an interesting history.

 

If you are looking more at amenities, I think the Westin River North is a particularly lovely Westin property and if there's any way that you can negotiate a River View room on a high floor, those offer a classic Chicago view. The Ivy is also in an excellent location and that's a unique property in that it is a very small, personalized boutique hotel with only a few rooms per floor. The W Lakeshore I'd say no to; it's a nice property but I'd rather the Westin or Ivy for about the same price. The Hyatt on Wacker is an option if you are just looking more for a place to sleep and aren't going to use the hotel amenities as much.

Super happy. I have stayed a few times before and it's great. Plus, I want to go to the Art Institute of Chicago so it's super handy for that.
