luthienbabe
Could someone help me identify the hotel? I'm new here and I went to Hotwire to check the rates. After choosing the filters, I've finalized 3 hotels. Can someone please help me narrow down the hotel? Below are the 3 hotels: Hotel 1: City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3.5* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) Dates of travel - March 9-13, 2016 Amenities - Airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, business center, indoor pool, restaurant Price per night - $58 (from $145) Hotel 2: City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3.5* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) Dates of travel - March 9-13, 2016 Amenities - Airport shuttle, fitness center, pet friendly, pool, business center, indoor pool, restaurant Price per night - $65 (from $88) Hotel 3: City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) Dates of travel - March 9-13, 2016 Amenities - Airport shuttle, fitness center, pet friendly, pool, business center, indoor pool, restaurant Price per night - $50 (from $85) Does anyone have an idea what hotels these are? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. luthienbabe
Got it thanks! Hmm...it seems that prices have change for some hotels...does that happen a lot? Is it a big difference? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Prices can fluctuate a little from one search to the next, but in the instance above, it looks like prices have gone down $1 since your original post, which also could be due to a change in currency fluctuation. Best guess/comments for each: Hotel 1: City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3.5* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) --> Sandman Signature Hotel Vancouver Airport Hotel 2: City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3.5* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) --> i'm not certain, but maybe the Executive Airport Plaza hotel, but with a recommendation from previous guests is this really a hotel you'd want to stay at for 4 nites?? Hotel 3: City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) --> no guess Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. luthienbabe
Wow thanks a lot! You rock! Yeah, I think the best choice would be Hotel 1...And I'm hoping it would really be Sandman Signature Hotel Though I'm thinking if I will be in Richmond for 4 nights would it be worth it if I stay at 4* hotel? The total difference would be $150. Just something for me to think through. Anyway, thanks again for your help! Link to comment
AaronJB
Thank you for keeping us updated on what you decide. In terms of what to decide, I think it becomes a matter of what your goals/needs are for the trip. If you are going to spend much of your time in the hotel and are going to be using the amenities, a 4* may be worth considering. If you are going to be out for most of the day and are looking more for a place to sleep, then maybe 4* is not necessary. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. luthienbabe
Hi again, I've been thinking what you said about choosing between 4* & 3.5*. As I'm out most of the day I don't really need a fancy hotel, although when I return and go to sleep I would like a comfy bed with a nice room and bathroom. That being said, I think a 3.5* or 3* is suited for me. If it's ok with you, can you tell me which hotel I would most likely to get based on these details from Priceline (which I notice is a bit cheaper than Hotwire): City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3.5* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) Dates of travel - March 9-13, 2016 Amenities - Pets allowed, Free Parking, Restaurant, Airport Shuttle, Free Internet, Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Fitness Center Price: $60/night I will be finalizing my hotel and would like to book no later than tomorrow so I would really appreciate your help. By the way, when I checked the total price and condition, it doesn't state whether I'll be getting 2 beds or 1 bed in a room. Since I have no companion, can I request for 1 bed only? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Once you win a hotel you can call the hotel and make whatever requests you'd like, but their ability to honor your request will be based upon occupancy levels, hotel policy, if a rate difference between the room rate you request and the room you booked (sometimes 2 beds is more expensive than 1 bed) City - Richmond, BC, Canada Star rating - 3.5* Zone/Area - Vancouver Int'l Airport (YVR) Dates of travel - March 9-13, 2016 Amenities - Pets allowed, Free Parking, Restaurant, Airport Shuttle, Free Internet, Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Fitness Center Price: $60/night ==> Sandman Signature Hotel Vancouver Airport Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. luthienbabe
I think I'll book on the fix price instead of bidding since I'm not sure when will the hotel accept my bid. It might take a while before they accept and I need to book on or before Feb 28. But just the same, when does the hotel usually accept a bid? So that I'll know for my next booking Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
You will know in about 30 seconds if PRICELINE has found a hotel that will accept your bid price or not. As well, all of the above were HOTWIRE or PRICELINE EXPRESS offers, which you simply purchase just like any other hotel transaction (the only difference is that you don't learn the name of the hotel until after your purchase). If you're not comfortable with an 'opaque' hotel purchase that is one thing, but the timing of your purchase as indicated above isn't an issue. If you decide to purchase a regular rate hotel, in recognition of the help you received above, it would be appreciated if you booked thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com.com Let us know what you ultimately decide or if you would like to move forward with PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE.
