ohmycat
Hi, I'm new to Better Bidding / PRICELINE / HOTWIRE and am looking for help - I'm wondering when the best time is to start bidding (now vs. closer to the date) for a hotel would be. I'm looking to stay in a 4-star hotel in these areas in New York City: Chelsea Madison Square Garden Midtown East Midtown West Time Square Empire State Building from May 10-17, 2016. I also don't know how much I could start bidding at, as the current hotel rates in those areas look like they're ranging from $300-400 USD when I look on PRICELINE / HOTWIRE. What would the absolute cheapest rate/room/night be, given that it's in May? Or what can I expect to spend to get something that meets that criteria? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :) This is a busy time period with nicer Spring weather and probably a few events (college graduations, etc), plus a week stay may be a little more difficult during busier periods. I'd really try to lock something in if a good deal can be had. What would be your desired max bid per night? thereuare
At current rates you're likely looking at a 4* hotel in one of the zones above in the $190-$215 area... is this within your expected budget? ohmycat
Thank you both for your replies. I was hoping to spend less than that, but wasn't sure what a reasonable price was around that time. Would $120/night (max) be reasonable for a 3-3.5 star hotel? Link to comment
AaronJB
Unfortunately I think you're likely looking at more towards the $150-170 range, depending on the zone.
