GuySmiley
Hi there, new to the forum and looking for some bidding advice. First time in NYC and planning to do sightseeing in Manhattan. Looking to stay anywhere from Times Square south and hoping to get some bidding advice on 3 or 4* hotels, specifically starting bids. Planning to use subway for most things. Looking at priceline it seems like like the following zones might fit the bill.Chelsea, Financial District, Empire State, Greenwich, LES, MSG, Midtown West, Times Square, Soho, Union Square.Reading through some other posts it sounds like this is an expensive time of year :( Is $150/nt realistic? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Indeed, this is a busy time of year in NYC as, along with the usual business travelers and visitors, you get those looking to shop before the holidays and see the store displays. We will offer a strategy for whatever amount you'd like to use as your upper limit, and we will of course start low, but at current prices i think you will likely need to be in the $175-$200 range to be successful at a 3* or better hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
GuySmiley
Thanks for the reply. I would like to stay as close to $175 as possible. I was looking at the re-bidding post and from what I can tell I have two re-bid zones for a 4* (Coney Island and Morningside Heights). What I am wondering is how many re-bid zones for a 3*. Is it just one? Also what should I use as a starting bid? Link to comment
thereuare
You are correct that there are TWO re-bid zones at the 4* level... ONE re-bid zone at the 3.5* and 3* levels. I think $175 is on the low end of the expected range, and more likely for a 3* thank for a 4*, but if you want to first give it a try at the 4* level you can bid as follows: Select 4* Chelsea, Financial, ESB, Greenwich, LES, MSG, MTW, TS... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... GuySmiley
No luck with priceline, all bids rejected as expected. Ended up finding a hotel on Hotwire that suits our needs. Holiday Inn 57th for 3 nights for $240 USD per night. Thanks again for your help. Link to comment
