jtut318
Hello, I am looking for a hotel on 7/30 for one night in the downtown area. There are two Priceline Express deals that I'm looking at including a 4* at McCormick Place for $75/night which is most likely the Hyatt Regency and a 4.5* in the River North Area for $145 showing only two amenities, Restaurant and Free Internet with an 8+ rating. I'm curious if anyone has an idea of what that 4.5* property could be. I bid last night on the 4.5* property up to $102 and didn't get it. I would prefer to stay in the River North Area where my other reservations are for the weekend, but I could take the Hyatt McCormick just for the good price and then move downtown on Friday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Edit: I just updated the listings and it seems that 4.5* property in River North for $145 is gone. There is a new one with a price of $218 now. thereuare
NOTE that McCormick Place is not really 'downtown' and there is not much in the immediate area other than the convention center. Are you willing to pay $218/nite for this trip? I'm seeing a 4* hotel on PRICELINE EXPRESS in the NMA-River North area for $132/nite with Restaurant and Business Center amentiies... my guess for this one would be the Warwick Allerton, does this work for your needs? AaronJB
The Warwick Allerton is an older property with smaller rooms, but I would much rather have that if faced with the choice between that and the Hyatt McCormick.. There's nothing around the Hyatt and it's a trek South of downtown. The Allerton (whose reviews have improved)'s location, on the other hand, can't be beat. jtut318
I'm not looking to pay too much for this night. My flight arrives late at Midway and I probably won't get to the hotel until after 11PM anyway. I'll be staying the rest of the trip in the River North area, so I thought I'd try to get something close to that, but if the price is to prohibitive, I could just stay at the Hyatt McCormick for this low rate and move to River North on Friday. I would like to stay around $150 for this night in downtown. If not, I'll go with the Hyatt. I see a 4* property in the Loop area for $145 with Internet, Pool, Fitness Center, Restaurant, 9+. Any idea what this is? Link to comment
jtut318
The 4.5* in the River North Area for $145 I mentioned earlier has appeared again and is showing only two amenities, Restaurant and Free Internet with an 8+ rating. I'm curious if anyone has an idea of what that 4.5* property could be. Link to comment
AaronJB
The 4.5* listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess a new amenity set for the Omni or Ivy would be a possibility. jtut318
I went with this deal from the Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place. The Express Deal was $75 and I got it on the first bid of $60. I could have gotten for even lower. Thanks for the help. Any tips for breakfast places in Chicago, AaronJB? Link to comment
AaronJB
There's really not much around the Hyatt. If you take the Metra from McCormick Place up to Millennium Park, Wildberry (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g35805-d2407503-Reviews-Wildberry_Pancakes_and_Cafe-Chicago_Illinois.html). Also nearby that station is the Pittsfield Cafe (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pittsfield-cafe-chicago). Enjoy your stay. Link to comment
