jrice4me
I am looking for the cheapest 5* hotel in the Strip North area for the dates of 7/21 - 7/24. I would like to use Priceline bidding (as I assume it will get me my best deal but am willing to use anything else as well). I also would like a hotel with a casino (so no Trump) that is more or less on S. Las Vegas Blvd. I'm hoping to stay under $150/night. I am grateful for any help I may receive. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! The Trump is a 5* rated hotel in the Strip North zone so there would be no way to avoid this property from being a possible outcome when bidding on PRICELINE.... which leaves HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS as your best options. Currently there are no 5* hotels with a casino in the Strip North zone offered on PRICELINE EXPRESS (all that is showing is what i believe to be The Trump for $96/nite if that is a price that perhaps makes the Trump a viable option)... or a 5* hotel on HOTWIRE for $175/nite with: Free Parking Suite Casino Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... if this is what you're seeing, best guess would be the Encore Las Vegas. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed (or how it goes if you take the described HOTWIRE property) and we'll take it from there. jrice4me
If I added Strip South as an option would I be able to get under $150/night do you think (with the same other conditions: 5*; casino; on strip; 7/21 - 7/24)? Also regarding your statement regarding the Encore Wynn via Hot.wire: 1) is the $175 "all-in" or will I have additional resort fees waiting for me when I check-in? 2) You said you best guess was Encore, but what's your general confidence level (just general - high, medium, low). Thanks again. Link to comment
thereuare
If you bid Strip South there would be no way to exclude the Vdara from the possibilities... which does not have a casino. Would this be acceptable? The above offer is the room rate... if you search HOTWIRE you can see the offer i referenced (your price may be different by a few dollars) and if you click thru on the offer you'll see the total payable to hotwire (any resort fees would be payable directly to the hotel, but for some properties HOTWIRE has begun to include this information in a breakdown of the total cost) If the amenities are exactly as i've listed above i feel very good with my guess. jrice4me
Thanks for your feedback so far. After consideration, I'm just going to request a how-to on bidding for the cheapest 5* hotel in the North or South strip via Priceline. I won't fret about casino/being on the strip. Dates are still the same. Let me know if you need any additional information from me. Link to comment

Select 5* Strip North and Strip South... Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... jrice4me
I'm sorry to say my available dates just changed - can I get a bidding strategy for 7/24 - 7/27? I plan to report my win as soon as I book something. Thanks again. Link to comment
Romelle
I'm a member, not any board official, but thought I'd help get your thinking moving along for your new dates. If you pull up the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers for the new dates, you will see a North Strip 5* non-casino hotel for $186 (+- maybe a couple dollars). Most likely the Trump. And a South Strip 5* for $184. That is significantly different from the budget you originally posted. While bidding is still possible, and might yield a slightly better result, the question is whether you want a new bidding pattern up to that range or a different plan. There is a 4* South Strip for $147. Or? Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
I think it will likely take in the $150-$175 range for a 5* hotel for these dates, but if you want to stick with your original $150 budget, you can try the following, using your ELEVEN re-bid zones (If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.): Select 5* Strip North... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 5* Strip South... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 5* Strip North and Strip South... Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150 If the above is rejected, let us know if you want to increase your budget for a 5* property OR lower your star rating to 4 stars. Any questions feel free to ask. jrice4me
After a lot of consideration I ended up deciding to expand my budget and stick with Priceline bidding for a 5* resort, either North or South using my new dates (7/24-27). I used the PRICELINE links from the website for my search and bidding, and I ended up with the Vdara and am very happy with my result. I'd like to thank both thereuare and Romelle for talking me through my options and using their expertise for my benefit. I'll be using you guys again! Link to comment
