Bebenedini
Aaron,Thanks for the information! I was digging into betterbidding topics and I couldn't understand the bidding process.I've been using the Express Deal instead at Priceline. I am looking for a hotel 3* or above for the dates 8/7/15 to 8/12/15 There is also another Express Deal for U$137 (22% or more); 7+ rating ; Downtown financial district area, Business and Fitness center, restaurant and free internet. But assuming that the LES 4* includes breakfast for U$139, it seems to me a better deal. (Unless this Downtown hotel is much better) Do to my price restrictions (something around U$140, but for 3* or above hotels), I noted that I would only find this rate at Downtown, LES and Chelsea (if I'm lucky). Do you think I should try bidding for 4* + hotels at those areas within this price range or going with these express deals are definitely a good choice? Thanks a lot Link to comment
Bebenedini
Aaron, After I posted the message above, I just found at Hotwire (using the liink) an hotel at Financial District Area 4*, 70% recommended (only free internet ????) at U$120 (53% discount)What could be this one? Do you beleive it could be any Hilton / Sheraton / Hyatt / Intercontinental? I've seen in some posts at the forum that Hotwire star ranking are different then Priceline? Thank you again. AaronJB
To try and focus the search: You mention only being able to find $140 and under in Downtown-Financial and Chelsea. Are you optimally looking for something more Midtown? I'm seeing what may be the Omni Berkshire for $155 on HOTWIRE - while above your limit, if you are intending to spend more time in Midtown, for $15 that's less traveling to do each day. Unfortunately, with only one common amenity I'm not sure what the 4* Downtown-Financial may be. Let us know more about what you are unclear about regarding bidding and we would be happy to offer further details. Hot.wire and Price.line are different services and it's not unusual to see different star ratings. Overall though, let us know more about what you are looking for and then we can go from there. Bebenedini
I was reading the @antosiu post that finally got after bidding the Hilton New York Fashion District for $133/night. That would be perfect.I know that I wouldn't get the same hotel, but I guess my wishes are similar: 4* or above hotels at maximum U$140.The zones could be Chelsea, Union Square, Greenwich Village, Midtown East, Midtown West.My dates are 8/7 - 8/12 I would try the bidding process but I am not familiar with that. Thank you Link to comment

Bebenedini
@Thereuare, Thank you.I've read the re-biddding post.I just checked the hotel list and only the following zones has 3 or 3,5* maximum hotels (none has 4* or above) Bronx 3*Chinatown 3,5*JFK 3,5*La Guardia 3* These should me my re-bid zones then?Am I safe if I use Chinatown that has a 3,5* (not a 4*). Bebenedini
Sorry all,Now I just found outthe reason the zones were not matching..I used the PRICELINE link to check the zones and not the box on the right hand corner on the top of the page. Now it is clear. Re-bid zones are: Coney Island (2* maximum) and Harlem (3,5* max). Link to comment
Bebenedini
I did all the bidding strategy up to 142 and had no success? (I included Greenwich as well at the last 2 bids)Any recommendation? Link to comment
thereuare
Glad to see you were able to figure out your re-bid zones (always double check before bidding to make sure nothing has changed since you last looked)... but sorry to see your bids were rejected. To be successful for a 4* hotel in the zones you have bid above i think you'll likely need to be in the $140-$160 range... if you're not willing to increase your budget then including Downtown, Queensborough Bridge, UWS, LES, and/or ESB might help. I will add there is this 4.5* MTE zone hotel for $161/nite on PRICELINE EXPRESS if the higher star rating (and guarantee of an 8.0+ user review rating) is worth the extra $20/nite to you: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center ... my guess for this one would be the Omni Berkshire Place (and does get excellent reviews) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed (or how it goes of you take the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above) and we ill advise accordingly.
