Priceline Hotel: 4* Chicago (North Michigan Ave - River North) Sheraton Chicago Hotel Tower

Want to book 2 nights in North Michigan or Millennium Park, but no luck at $144.    Do you know this high price due to Pitchfork fest or this is normal in Chicago summer?  I will probably try it again tomorrow.   Any more tips?

I am fine to go down to 4* hotels, but I am afraid, price is also close to $130 or even $150.

Thanks, David

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Unfortunately these rates aren't unusual for the Summer in Chicago. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? I think a 4* will be more reasonable - I'm seeing a 4* on Hot.wire for $155 w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower in the Mag Mile-RN area. I'd guess this is the Hotel Chicago.

What would be your desired max bid per night?

Thanks for quick reply. I am fine to spend more for 4* and *4.5* in DT Chicago as long as final price is less than $180.   I'd like to stay in a newer hotel.   I also want to avoid Hyatt Regency and also skip Swissotel.  Just checked google reviews for Hotel Chicago:  looks like it's also old and some comments are not friendly.

Thanks, David

You're not going to find a hotel without a few negative reviews - a hotel isn't going to always going to be everyone's cup-of-tea. Not sure who noted the Hotel Chicago is old - it's certainly not a historic property. In terms of bidding, if there's hotels you don't want, there's no way to avoid them if you're bidding.

The cheapest Hot.wire listing is the potential Chicago at $158, which is a total of $196.5 a night after taxes/fees. Other than that everything's higher. You can get something lower probably via bidding, but the issue becomes you have to be willing to accept anything. Would you be willing to accept the Allerton, to use an example?

Tried $145 for 4* North Michigan Ave - River North Area still no luck.   Will start over and include Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area.

So would the potential Allerton, Hotel Chicago, Swiss and Hyatt be acceptable?

I included Millennium Park with North Michigan Ave in my bidding, still no luck at  $136 for 4*.     Only few zones left: but I don't know if Oak Park & Franklin Park has any 4* hotel.  So I stop here.

Looks like even 4* hotel might go up to $160 (or even higher) on these 2 days.    Lowest price now in Hotwire is $182 and $183 in Chicago loop.   This is slightly over my budget.   Should I wait and try next week? or any other suggestions?

I am flying in.  Can you ID this hotel in Hotwire?  Thanks for the help.

I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process.

Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities.

This is what I see when replicating your search,

Free Internet
Pet Friendly
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Golf
Tennis
Spa
Blind Accessible
Deaf Accessible
Travel Accessible
Room Accessible
Bathroom Accessible
Handicapped Parking
Roll-in Shower

...If this is what you see would my guess be MileNorth Hotel.

If you're flying in, you're pretty much limited to downtown and the O'Hare area (if you're flying into ORD.) If the price for the Hot.wire potential MileNorth is acceptable, that's a well-reviewed hotel in a great location.

Congrats on your success. :)

Nice win for this property and hope you are looking forward to your stay. I'd ask if there's any way you could get a room facing the river. There's an absolutely beautiful new Whole Foods a block away on Illinois and Columbus if you're looking to grab something to take back to the hotel.

We are always happy to help ID a Hot.wire or PRICELINE EXPRESS listing, plus you can also use the lists - Hotwire Hotel List Illinois Priceline Hotel List Illinois to see what's been reported to the board.

Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
