Zoe-the-dog
As per title I'd appreciate thoughts on which hotel this could be. Amenities: Free breakfast, free internet, fitness, business and in room accessibility.85% recommended and 4/5 on trip advisor could be good signs (if hotwire has not rounded it up!) I can't really afford more than $400 for the whole stay (including taxes etc) and this may be a decent option if it's the best western plaza or comfort inn. I'm wary of it being the red roof however! Or if anyone can help point me towards other possible options I sure would appreciate it! Things that are important to me: Price, cleanliness and location for easy access (not too much walking/cost) to the city - I'd even share a bathroom if i can cut costs or improve quality! thereuare
I'm seeing a 4.0/5.0 TA rating for this property which should give some comfort that it's one of the better 2.5* properties, but with the current TA rating of the Red Roof Inn at 3.5/5.0 i think you can safely assume it's not that one... my guess would be the Comfort Inn Long Island City. Unfortunately at under $100 (especially on an all-in basis) there aren't many options in the tri-state area. Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. Zoe-the-dog
Thanks for your input. I think I agree with your opinion and decided to book it today (after having sorted out some other logistics) but sadly by the time I got up this morning there weren't any of these rooms left so I'm back to the beginning (my own fault!) again... Zoe-the-dog
Thanks for your reply. I'm looking at a couple of options including staying further away, cutting costs on other things and upping my hotel budget but haven't figure it all out yet. I may be back (or on the NJ board) unless I manage to secure a room direct form a hotel. Link to comment
thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you decide to do for this stay, even if not PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, you cancel the trip, book a regular rate hotel, etc. Also, you may want to give our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com a look as it will show you hotels near almost any address in the world and the interface makes it easy to determine how much more/less it will cost to go up/down in star rating or to stay closer/further from your ideal location.
