The Hotwire 4.5* Oceanfront Collins hotel $212 lists $21 resort fee

The James Royal Palm hotel website lists $244 and $30 resort fee.

Do you think hotwire's resort fee is outdated since the Starwood takeover or that this could be a different hotel not the James Royal Palm?

My brother just purchased this hotel and ended up with the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach

He is contesting it as there are Hotwire and Expedia pages that list it as a 4* hotel. Whereas he purchased a 4.5* secret hot rate hotel. Are you aware of the actual Hilton Bentley's star rating?

Nice win for this property and hope the hotel will work out okay. Star ratings for hotels will vary from service-to-service quite commonly, and Expedia is a different service. Are you seeing it as 4* under the vacation package side of Hot.wire? If so, that portion is powered by Expedia.

It does looks like it is vacation Hotwire listing 4 star for Hilton Bentley.

Expedia's website also lists 4 star for Hilton Bentley.

 

Hotwire's response to my brother's email does state "Hotwire starts with Expedia star ratings, and then adjusts each hotel based on our customer's feedback"

Just a further update - Hotwire refunded this booking following several email claims

Star rating discrepancies:

1. Hotwire Hilton Bentley Standard rate hotels 4.5 stars

2. Hotwire Hilton Bentley Vacation 4 stars

3. Expedia Hilton Bentley 4 stars

Hotwire response:

"For our Hot Rates, star ratings is taken from the Expedia's star ratings. As previously advised, we use customers' feedback to adjust the ratings accordingly. On the other hand, Standard Rate hotels star ratings are taken from the Expedia ratings alone. For this reason, it is possible to have observed different star ratings when you compare the ones booked under our Hot Rates list to the ones available from our Standard Rate hotels."
