Priceline Hotel: Bidding help Las Vegas 5/14/06 1 night 5* if possible

I'd love to get The Venetian for our 1 night stay in LAS. On their website, the lowest price for a room with 2 beds is $239. On the convention checker, there is a convention at The Venetian where they expect 4500 beginning on 5/15. Does this make my chances of getting a room under $129 slim to none?

I'm willing to go up to $129 for The Venetian, but much less for anything else. I have a cancellable reserv. for $127 at The Alladin, which I plan to cancel.

What do you all recommend?

Hotwire is not offering a 5* hotel for you date yet. I would bid $99 once a week and see what results you get (counter offers). You have a lot of time until your stay and a good back up. I would also keep checking the rates for your back up as I think that rate might drop and you can rebook it for less just in case.

It's too early to write off this stay thru the opaque suppliers... rates in Vegas change (up and down) quicker than any other market in the country.

Do note that this property routinely only assigns rooms with one bed to guests who book thru the opaque suppliers and rooms with two beds come with an addtional fee ($15 if i recall correctly), although the rooms do have a pull-out couch.

I now am the proud owner of two cancellable reservations. In addition to the Alladin, I reserved a room at the Four Queens on Fremont St. in the downtown area for $37. I have stayed there before and it's just fine, and the whole Fremont thing is kinda fun.

I will keep trying Priceline for the 5* Venetian. How does the Alladin compare to the Venetian? Is it worth the $127. Also, will I have difficulty getting a room with two beds there?

I've never stayed at the Aladdin, but the location is excellent in the heart of the strip, with plenty of the major hotels right there... if you could get a room with a view of Bellagio's fountains it would definately be worth it.

Downtown is fun (and cheap) for a few days of a multi-nite trip, but not worth it (travel time and cost) if you want to spend most of your time on the main part of the strip.

I just checked Hotwire and they have two 4* properties.

1: North Strip, $70

Amenities: Restaurant, casino, pools, fitness ctr, spa services,laundry facilities, golf nearby, business ctr, hi speed internet, tennis nearby

2: South Strip, $75

Amenities: casino, restaurant, pool, spa service, tennis nearby, fitness ctr, golf nearby, business ctr

Any guesses as to which hotels these are? Also, which is preferrable, north strip or south strip? We only have the one night in Vegas so want to make the most of our time.

Best guesses are that that North Strip hotel is the Aladdin while the South Strip is the MGM.

Of these two i prefer the Aladdin (as well as the North Strip area over the South Strip).

Just to finalize this, we have decided to stay at the Four Queens on Fremont Street. We will have a car so can drive to the strip when we want.
