windfall
Hi, I'm currently looking for a hotel for May 24-27 somewhere in any Midtown or Time Square Region. Hoping to spend less than $200/night and 4* plus. I know Monday is a holiday so I'm not expecting anything too crazy. That being said here's a listing that caught my eye: HOT RATE BOUTIQUE HOTELMidtown East area4*$168/night Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services Any guesses? thereuare
The W New York would be my best guess for this one. windfall
Thanks, I think I'll go try my luck with priceline bids first. Should I close this thread and post a new one in the priceline forum? Link to comment

windfall
Alright, I'm looking at Midtown East, Midtown West, and Times Square. For budget, the goal is to stay under $200/night including fees so I think that translates to a max bid of about $165. It can't hurt to try for a 5* at that price right? Otherwise there are a few 4* hotwire and priceline express deals for around that already. So, would going for a 4* at $125 be reasonable? Link to comment
thereuare
Few comments... You can certainly try, but i think bidding for a 5* hotel up to $165/nite would be a waste of time... i think you would need to be at least at $200/nite to even have a chance (and more likely take closer to $250). At the 4* level note that most MTE properties are well located, but a few can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway, would this be acceptable? Also, note that MSG, ESB, and Chelsea are also all frequently bid zones and considered to be well located and convenient (some Chelsea hotels can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway but this is a 'hot' area right now so it is still very desirable)... are these others zones not acceptable for this trip? At the 4* level if you include MTE (taking into consideration my comments immediately above) i think you have a chance at $125/nite, especially when using the link/code in my signature... otherwise you will likely need to be closer to your maximum bidding budget of $165/nite (perhaps somewhere in the $145-$165 range) Please confirm which zone(s) you're willing to accept, and if not including MTE also include your maximum bid, and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. windfall
Yeah, MTE and MSG are fine. The walk would be no problem. But just from personal preference I would want to stay out of Chelsea and ESB zones. Link to comment
thereuare
So to confirm: MTE, MTW, TS, MSG with a maximum bid of $125/nite (i would recommend making this your maximum bid before the bonus money using the link and code in my signature) When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.
