Hotwire Hotel: Safety in DC

How safe is the Convention Center/Arts area.  Is this area particularly dangerous?  I understand that this is a big city and not as safe as home.  There is an excellent deal for a 3* hotel $87 (95% approval rate, free breakfast, free parking, pool, fitness, business, resturant, golf)  (Hampton Inn?) a night during my meeting in November 5-10).  I am planning to take my staff so I am worried about their safety.  They did well in New Orleans last time.  

 

With a 95% approval rate and this low price I think I should grab it.

 

How is the safety of this area?  I will be ready to book soon.

Please start by concluding your New Orleans thread as to whether you stuck with the Comfort Inn reservation OR if whatever you did for that trip.

As for this DC stay I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

... is what you're seeing? (if so, i don't think this is the Hampton Inn) If not, how many rooms/adults/children are you including in your search?

As far as safety goes, i don't know enough about the different areas of DC to comment, but where exactly is your meeting being held?
