Hotwire Hotel: 4* Zurich (Opfikon - Kloten - Airport ZRH) Novotel Zurich Airport Messe

Needed a quick one night stay since my return flight to the US leaves from Zurich so I chose an airport hotel. However, it seems that I can hop on the tram and be in the city center in 30 mins so it works out perfectly since I get in at noon and leave the next morning.

I believe there were likely more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

For future searches/bookings you can do the following to ensure you're seeing the complete list:
1) use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com and click the green 'See All Amenities' button
OR
2) search HOTWIRE (or use the HOTWIRE tab at BiddingHelper.com) and...

• click the offer
• on the next page click the BOOK NOW link

You may have found this already, but just in case:

 

The Novotel Zurich Airport Messe hotel is in the Glattpark business district. Opposite the hotel is Lindbergh-Platz tram station, with direct connections to the airport via lines 10 and 12.  8 minutes.  

 

At the airport, the trams are right straight out from the airport.    Click here for pictures.

 

We should be so lucky in the US.

Thanks, Romelle.  This helps. Now any advice on what I can do in Zurich. I'll be there from 12pm and leave at 6.45 the next morning? I've never been to Zurich so any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Since people's tastes vary, I pulled a couple lists of possibilities:

If I had your schedule, I'd pick up a couple guide books from the library or use the lists above and pick one main thing I REALLY wanted to do.  Then browse in the general area of that for a second minor adventure and maybe an interesting place for lunch.  

 

I might pick the Urania Observatory or the Lindt & Sprungli Chocolate Factory Outlet.   Or maybe a self-guided walking tour.  If you search on "zurich walking tour" you can see some Youtube ones, and also maps and plans from sites like Frommer's.  I'd probably ride one tram or train line clear to the end and back.

 

If you are trying to figure out how to get to one of the places, a great tool is www.rome2rio.com.  Just put in your hotel address and the destination address and you get detailed plans for all feasible options - driving, public transport, air, walking.

 

Unless the hotel restaurant looks interesting, probably best to plan on dinner downtown - a stroll around Old Town until you see something intriguing.  I don't think there is much around your hotel, so I wouldn't head back until I was ready to hang it up.

There is an actual full shopping center right in the airport.  Everything from a super-market to barbers, clothing, sporting goods, etc.  Prices no different than elsewhere in Zurich.
