Priceline Hotel: 4* Las Vegas (Strip) New York New York

I started looking for options for Christmas Eve, and with lots of information from hotwire, I started bidding on Priceline:

4*, Strip Area:

Bid $75, rejected (Countered with $89, at which time I knew I was close);

Added "Airport Area", Bid $81, Accepted.

Got NY, NY.

I am quite happy with NYNY at that price, but a word to new users of this forum (and this method) --

It's the first time I've added a zone that I absolutely wouldn't want to stay at, at a star level that, while not listed on this board's reverse-lookup list, could actually exist in that zone. And I'm not so sure that I'd do it again. After I clicked "Place My Bid", I was having pretty severe second thoughts about what the girlfriend would say when we ended up in a 4* outside the airport.

That said, It did save me ten bucks, and I am a cheapskate... that's why I'm here. :-)

Glad to see you got it all settled, at good prices, and are happy with the results.

Re-Bidding is not really that risky, if you do it correctly. Our hotel lists should not be used to determine re-bid zones (as it states at the top of each hotel list). From Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time.
