joycekli
We're flying to LGA on 10/11 and spend 6 nights in NYC. Where should we stay if my budget is below 200/night? We're also thinking to stay close to Manhattan for 3 nights and stay in Flushing/Queens area for 3 nights. Do you recommend that? Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! What time is your arrival on Oct 11 and what time is your depature on Oct 17 (i assume leaving from LGA as well)? What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept? joycekli
I changed our return flight from LGA to 10/16 after 2pm. Will arrive at LGA after 6 pm on 10/11. The minimum star rating I will accept is 3. Link to comment
thereuare
As a first time visitor i would suggest trying to stay directly in Manhattan for your trip if possible, especially now that you have just cut your itinerary short by one day. For your complete stay i think you can likely get something within, or just over (say ~$210/nite), if you're willing to stay anywhere on the island (your best chances are Downtown and/or Lower East Side, which are not as convenient as midtown, but i think both are better choices than Long Island City/Queens) Let us know your current thoughts regarding spitting the stay between two locations OR if you prefer to try for the complete stay at one nite, as well as if you have any flexibility in your maximum bid... we'll take it from there. joycekli
I'm thinking to stay in Manhattan area for 2 or 3 nights and Flushing for the rest of the trip. My maximum bid for a hotel in Manhattan is 290. Do you think I should bid for one or just go with the Express deal. I want a hotel that is close to subway station. Link to comment
thereuare
If Manhattan hotels are within your $290/nite budget, why split and stay some nites in Long Island City? Which nites, zones, and star rating are you looking to bid in Manhattan? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joycekli
I don't want to spend too much money on the hotels in Manhattan. Plus I want to experience the variety of food in Flushing. I prefer staying close to Time Square/Midtown in Manhattan. I will consider Chelsea, Upper West Side as well. Star rating would be 3 and up. Will spend 3 nights 10/13-10/16 in Manhattan. Link to comment
thereuare
Plus I want to experience the variety of food in Flushing.I think you may be disappointed in this aspect and you can easily get here from Manhattan any time(s) there is something you want to try... however, your trip and you know your needs better than we do so we'll follow your lead. (NOTE: you may be interested in Smorgasburg... i've only been to the Williamsburg location) I prefer staying close to Time Square/Midtown in Manhattan. I will consider Chelsea, Upper West Side as well.To avoid any confusion, please list the zones you're willing to accept by PRICELINE name (for instance, does 'Midtown' only include MTE and MTW, or does it also include MSG, Chelsea, ESB, etc? Please confirm your zones and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joycekli
I'm not able to bid for any hotel based on your suggestion. Is lower Manhattan a good area to stay for the trip. Link to comment
thereuare
We stopped the strategy above at $205/nite as there is a 3* PRICELINE EXPRESS in the ESB zone (one that you have been bidding) for $208/nite and you can take that given your rejected bids up to $205. Confirm your dates on the landing page but here is a link to the $208 per nite 3 star ESB zone property which is showing just a solo Fitness amenity. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. joycekli
Do most of the hotels in Manhattan offer free in room WiFi/internet? Link to comment
thereuare
I would stay that most hotels do not offer Free Internet (unless it's a chain hotel where the brand typically offers free internet to all guests) However, when you're paying $200+ per nite for a hotel room i wouldn't be too influenced by a charge for internet. If you need frequent internet access then you'll likely want the hotel's offer, but if you only need internet a few times a day for short periods of time there is usually free internet access readily available at a nearby Starbucks, McDonald's, or free internet is even offered in Times Square right now. Did you try any of the bidding above yet? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
