Hotwire Hotel: Orlando Upgrade

We have been using this site for a while to get the bidding tips/hints from everyone -- a big thank you!

I wanted to share an experience that we had in April 2005 -- locating the hotel resort he wanted and using the bidding criteria found here with respect to price/location, we won three nights at the relatively new JW Marriott in Orlando. We flew on cheap seats, and as luck would have it our connecting flight into Orlando was delayed. We were so looking for some quiet time before checking out and connecting with the rest of the group for a big adventure. When we got to the Marriott, we parked the car, the lobby was really chaotic, and the crowd was a group of cheerleaders/dancers for a high school competition.

We found the Marriott had overbooked -- not a problem, because the Ritz-Carlton had just opened next door. We were moved there for our Priceline reservation, and driven there in the Jaguar the Ritz provides. The wonderful pool at the Marriott was accessible to us. I think the damage was about $120/night!

mmmm didn't the Ritz open a year or 2 ago.........I'm going to guess they won their bid in 2004 maybe :)
