lildeb78
I'm taking my daughters to NYC 8/30-9/1 and can't figure out which will be the best area(s) to bid on hotwire for our hotel. We will see a show on broadway and do other touristy things. I'd like to be centrally located, want a nice hotel, but can't break the bank (already purchased tickets for our family of 4 to see Wicked while in town). I'd love to keep the hotel under $300/night (before taxes). Prefer a 4* or better hotel. Kids have never been to NYC so I'd like them to get the full experience. I know I can't bid on PRICELINE, because I need a double room or king with pull-out sofa. On Hot.wire, which areas should I be bidding for the best hotel at the best price? Times Square, Midtown Central, Midtown East? Anything I should try to avoid? I've run the searches and there are so many options. Your boards have always been helpful in the past, so I thought I'd ask here. Once I know what to look for, I'll bid using the link here. Thanks!! Link to comment
AaronJB
Midtown East is convenient and usually less (sometimes much less) than Midtown West/TS. I see a 4* in MTE for $230 (when I search for 2 adults and 2 children) w/:Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower. This would likely be the Lexington. I also see a 4* in TS for $285 w/: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly. This would be a possible match for the Crowne Plaza Manhattan or Millennium Broadway. However, MTE seems quite reasonable for a bit more than fifty dollars less. Would either of these options be of interest? Hot.wire doesn't offer bidding, only listings. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. lildeb78
The MTE option looks pretty good, and definitely better on the budget. I'm seeing it listed today still for $231 - will most likely go for it. I'll report back. Thanks for the advice. Link to comment

lildeb78
Purchased using the Hotwire link and it was The Lexington. Price before taxes/fees was $233/night. Thanks for the help in id'ing this property!! Very excited for our trip to NYC :D Link to comment
AaronJB
Congrats on your success. :) Really a very nice win for this property, especially for quad occupancy (which is always significantly more expensive in NYC.) Glad you are pleased with the win and are looking forward to your stay. This property was renovated not that long ago, as well. Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay. Link to comment
