asdf123
Hi, I know this is sort of last minute, but I am looking for a 3 star hotel around either Downtown Buffalo or Niagara Falls, NY. I checked sites and they are showing $180 per night at the lowest with many around $200 per night. I don't know if this is realistic, but I was hoping to find something for under $100. I think I understand re-bid zones, but it looks like there are only 2 other zones I could use for rebidding. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Link to comment
yellowdog
I don't think $100 or less when bidding 3* will fly. I think you're looking at least $120-125 What is max budget/night before tax fee's? Also, please provide a follow-up for your prior Niagara Falls Priceline thread (post in that thread what you decided for that stay), then reply to this thread and we'll be happy to look into the above. Please follow-up your threads with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. thereuare
I agree that you'll likely need to be in the $120 area, but if you want to first try with a $100 maximum bid, you can try as follows, using your TWO re-bid zones at the 3* level... Select 3.5* Buffalo Downtown... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* Niagara Falls NY... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* Buffalo Downtown and Niagara Falls NY... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100 Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes. asdf123
Thanks for the replies. Sorry about not following up on my previous thread. I will do so now. I am not sure how much the fees are but I would like keep it at $120 max including taxes and fees. Link to comment
thereuare
PRICELINE will show the total before your submit your bid. You can go to PRICELINE and enter your desired location and bid price and after clicking the PREVIEW OFFER button see what the total would be if your bid is accepted (this is all before entering your credit card information so no 'fear' of accidentally submitting the bid at this point). However, while the above $100 maximum bid will put you almost exactly at your $120 all-in price, the prices mentioned above by both me and yellowdog are before taxes and fees. Have you tried the bidding strategy above? If so and have failed, using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable property for this trip? asdf123
Hi, I tried bidding up to $85 for both regions yesterday, but got rejected. I am going to try again today, but I guess it's my last chance. I checked on the Maps and Hotels site and it was showing $149 for the Hyatt Downtown Buffalo. When I clicked it, the price went up to $169 though. Also, Hotwire is showing a secret rate of $151, which I am guessing is for the same hotel. What amount should I bid today? Link to comment
Romelle
You actually can also bid tomorrow. Regarding how high you should bid ... up to my next best alternative is usually my theory. Hoping to score a better hotel for the same money. Did you also bid at the 3* level? Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
If you're still searching for 7/4-7/6, i'm currently seeing the Hyatt Regency Buffalo for $209/nite for your dates. As well, there no PRICELINE EXPRESS offers in the Downtown zone and only one in the Niagara Falls, NY zone which is a 2* property (priced at a whopping $254/nite!) The 3* on HOTWIRE in the Downtown zone for $165/nite: Free Parking Free Internet Shuttle Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Golf Tennis Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... i'm guessing is the Holiday Inn Buffalo-Downtown Based upon the above options, and only or one two chances until your arrival... what would you like to use as your maximum bid for a 3* hotel? asdf123
Thanks again for the help everybody. Since the date was approaching, I started increasing the bidding increments. I tried $110, then $120, then $130 but was rejected for both areas. I found a 3* hotel with Saturday rate of $151 so I just booked that and then booked a 2* hotel for $130. Link to comment
AaronJB
Did you book HOTWIRE or PRICELINE / PRICELINE EXPRESS for either stay? If you booked regular rate, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's Support Page links to start regular rate purchases and searches. If so, it would be greatly appreciated if you could post the details of the win/s as separate threads. Hope you enjoyed your stays. Link to comment
asdf123
Sorry for the late response. These were booked through regular rates. Link to comment
thereuare
Thank you for the follow-up and closing this thread. In the future when PRICELINE / HOTWIRE don't work for your needs, please use our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate bookings (and the interface makes it easy to see how much/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating or to stay closer/further from your ideal location) Hope you had a good trip.
