AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Are you seeing any additional amenities with this listing? I'm seeing a listing at the 4* level in this zone with free internet, restaurant, fitness, business with a 7.0 rating. I'd guess the Lexington is a definite possibility in this case. You can bid for less, but then it becomes a matter of being willing to accept ANY hotel at the star level chosen in the zone/s chosen vs the ability to make an educated guess at what a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals listing may be. There's also the Express Deals coupon in my signature that ends tonight. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment

AaronJB
Please keep all posts in this thread - thanks. For the HOTWIRE listing - I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (such as accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? hause55
I didn't see any more amenities on the last one. Please ID the following on Priceline: 4 star midtown east $185 7.0 guest rating Pets allowed Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center 4 1/2 star midtown East $256 8.0 guest rating Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center bed choice available I really want 2 rooms at 4 1/2 star MTE, MTW, TS for around $215 a night. I've been bidding the last four nights after I click on your PRICELINE link. I guess I just have to be patient.? Link to comment
AaronJB
For the 4*, the Doubletree Met, W, Hilton and Intercontinental would be a possible match in terms of amenities, but the W is the most likely and has been reported with these amenities previously. The 4.5* amenities are common to all of the 4.5*'s in this zone. Patience is a part of it, but you also do have to make a judgement call in terms of the risk of rates going higher while you hope they go lower. This is a fairly busy period, so there is that possibility. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
thereuare
There are also are not that may 4.5* hotels in the system, so there are less hotels available to accept your bid, as well as less competition among hotels within the star level (which means they may not need to discount their rates as much as other star levels where there is more competition) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hause55
Hotwire has a midtown central 4*. $234. Free Internet, Pet friendly, Business Center, Internet access. Also Priceline has a 3 1/2 star Mid Town East for $210. Rated 8.0 out of 10. Guest Favorite. RestaurantBusiness CenterFitness Center Any idea on what these hotels are? Not the best deals but I've realized there aren't the best rates out there when we're going. I will make sure to use the links on this page. Thank you for your help! Link to comment
hause55
Here is another one on Priceline Express that seems promising if you could ID? Mid Town East $239 for Deluxe 1 bed requested. 3 1/2 star but 9.0 out of 10 Guest Favorite. All that it says though for amenities is restaurant. Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
A guess for the 4* HOTWIRE MTC property would be The Dream or the City Club Hotel. I'm not currently seeing the PRICELINE EXPRESS property offered when searching for your dates... are you still seeing this on your own search? I'm very familiar with NYC, and as it appears your parameters (star rating and budget) and have changed, if you let us know your new criteria i will try to see what may come closest to what you're looking for. hause55
That last one came and went fast. I think it was the Fitzpatrick. Yes our parameters have changed. Still going the same dates (6/18-6/22) 2 rooms. I've realized how much rates are jumping for the time we are going. This will be our first trip to NYC so we would like to stay within somewhat walking distance to Time Square. We do plan to get metro passes though. Ideally we would love to get the rooms for around $225. Our #1 criteria is recommendation. Would like to get 8.0 or higher. Star rating isn't huge. I've seen some rooms going for cheaper in MidTown East (7.0 rating) but horrible reviews lately. My wife said she wants a quiet, clean room with a nice bed so we'll probably have to do the express deals. We don't care much about amenities. 2nd highest criteria is location. Thanks again for all your help. Link to comment
thereuare
This will be our first trip to NYC so we would like to stay within somewhat walking distance to Time Square. You will spend far less time here then you think, and when you travel here, there is no reason that you need to walk... most subway lines can get you very close to Times Square, as well, taxis are usually readily available and with four people are relatively inexpensive. I'm not suggesting that you stay too far away from center, but you really don't need to be walking distance to Times Square (imo)... especially since many times that you will be heading to Times Square you will not be coming directly from your hotel and will be elsewhere in the city. How about booking the Hotel Boutique at Grand Central (double check the date on the landing page) at a refundable rate of $263/nite, as this will protect you from further citywide rate increases as well as enable you to continue to try PRICELINE / HOTWIRE in the days and weeks ahead. hause55
I went ahead and booked it. It was the Marriott Marquis Time Square. (2 rooms) I used your PRICELINE link. It ended up being $237 a night after the 5% off coupon. I'm happy! Thanks.
