johnp012001
So, thinking of a last minute trip to Vegas. Hotwire has a 5* North strip for $479. The Venetian has a Venetian Luxury Suite-1 king bed for $239. There are other rooms that are more expensive. When qualifying for the double difference guarantee, do they look at the best price available at the hotel? Or could they say they are selling the Venitian Prima View, which is $619, and would be a savings? Could I really stay at the Venetian for next to nothing? Link to comment

johnp012001
Ok, don't put too much effort into this. Just got a call, and had a friend admitted to the hospital this morning. Time to go be a friend, and not head to Vegas! However, I am still curious about this, as I will be going soon, and should this situation present itself again, I would love to take advantage of it! thereuare
I would think that you'd be cutting it too tight. As per their terms, Hotwire "has to be able to verify the rate" and has up to three days to get back to you. If your claim was still in the que until after midnite, they'd have no way to verify the rate. johnp012001
thanks for the information. seems they have covered themselves pretty well, as the few times I have seen these situations has been on last minute deals. They certainly have many ways of protecting themselves! Link to comment
thereuare
... but i will say that they are very good at honoring the guarantee. We have seen many double the difference guarantees obtained on the board and Hotwire has not tried to "weasel out of it". SKYravefever
I haven't checked the actual T&C's of the Venetian's guarantee, but most other hotels will not guarantee/match opaque sites like hotwire and priceline. Link to comment
homeschoolmom
I believe they're referring to hotwire's guarantee; it doesn't come from the Venetian. Link to comment
