garda45
Hi, I would like your suggestion on which area I should be bidding and what strategy should I be taking.Interested in Downtown or Beach location 4*, 3.5* or 3*. We would like to bid not over $130.00. I am familiar with the free re-bids. Thanking you in advance for your help! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! What is the purpose of this trip... is this for a pre-cruise stay? garda45
Hi! Thanks for the welcome..... The purpose is a pre-cruise stay. We will arrive before noon. We are not renting a car and therefore the reason we prefer downtown or beach. Link to comment
thereuare
Did you want to bid for a 4* up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5* up to your limit, then if rejected for a 3*... OR is the goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. garda45
Hi, Least expensive 3* or better is the plan! Link to comment
thereuare
When bidding 3* in Fort Lauderdale you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 3* Downtown... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3* Beach... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3* Downtown and Beach... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130 Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes. garda45
Hi, If I understand, $ 130.00 is not realistic for a 4*? I am willing to bid up to $ 130.00 for a 3* Beach but I find that $ 130.00 downtown is too high! What do you think? Link to comment
thereuare
If I understand, $ 130.00 is not realistic for a 4*?Least expensive 3* or better is the plan!We can include a strategy that first tries for a 4*, then if rejected tries for a 3.5*, and then for a 3*... but you previously stated that your goal was the least expensive 3* or better. When you bid on PRICELINE the star rating you select is the minimum that you're willing to accept, so for each bid above if a higher star rating is available at that price you will be upgraded to the higher rated hotel. HOWEVER, should the 'right' price for each be: 4* $130 3* $110 --> using the strategy above you would win the 3* at $110 (since you never got to try for the higher rated, and more expensive, 4* property) If you first want to try for the highest star rating within your budget (ie- trying first for a 4* up to your limit, then if rejected for a 3.5*, etc, etc) then using the scenario of the prices above you would win the 4* at $130 (which would not be the least expensive 3* or better) ...I find that $ 130.00 downtown is too high! What do you think?I don't agree based upon current rates... The center of PRICELINE's Downtown zone is approximately: SE 3rd Ave and Davie Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale Use our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com and: 1) search within 3 miles of this address 2) UNcheck anything rated less than 3* 3) zoom in on the map to the downtown area ==> the least expensive 3* or better hotel i'm seeing is the priced at $219/nite, which would make $130 a good deal, imo Also, do you think $110 would be too high for a 3* hotel in the Downtown zone? If not, and a 3* in the Downtown zone is available for your dates, you would win it at the lower price, never having reached the $130 bid point. garda45
Hi, Thanks for you comments.... so I would bid up to$ 130.00 for 4*$ 120 for 3 1/2$ 110 for a 3* Is it reasonable? Please advise of strategy to use. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
We can give it a try, but at current rates my guess is that you're likely $10-$20 from a win at each star level: When bidding in Fort Lauderdale you have FIVE re-bid zones at the 4* level, TWO re-bid zones at the 3.5* level, and ONE re-bid zone at the 3* level. Select 4* Downtown... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* Beach... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* Downtown and Beach... Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone... garda45
Hi! If my memory serves me right, I gave up and bid for Airport. Won a bid for 3* Airport for $82.00, which was great. I ended up with Hyatt Place. Link to comment
