I used the Price.line QuickQuote link on the upper right section of this page to start the process.  I wanted a hotel in the "N Michagan Ave - River North" zone only (3 re-bid zones for a 3.5*).  Bids were rejected @ $60, $65, & $70; accepted at $75 on final re-bid try.

FWIW, Priceline.Express showed a 3.5* property in this zone for $83 for the same night.

Thanks, AaronJB.  We have dinner reservations @ Lawry's for Friday night.  It looks like it's only about 4-5 blocks away.  I'm not sure we'll have time for much else,  This is the tail end of a business trip, and we're flying out in the morning.  I think we're coming back in January 2015, so maybe I'll have more time to see the sights then.

Congrats! I am a little envious to say that you got it at that deal because I bid $79 last night for a 4-star hotel in that area for October 18-20 and got rejected :(

Rates are date specific, and there could be little correlation between rates at the 3.5* level (the hotel above) and hotels at the 4* level (the star rating you bid). As well, rates at the property above for your dates (which is lower than the star rating you're bidding) are over $300/nite, so your rejected bid of $79/nite probably isn't all that surprising.
