d1234
HI, I have been bidding unsuccessfully for several days now for North Strip 5 star... I started low and have bid as high as $193 , no luck. This is my first time to Vegas and I want to have a great time and stay in a top of the line hotel that is central to the action. From reading it sounds like I should avoid the Trump and a few others. Should I open my preferences to Strip South as well? Will my options become less favorable? What about 4 star? Ive been advised to stick to 5 star strip north by a veteran bidder I know, but my price range seems not to be working this preference and my dates... I think one of the issues is that it is cinch de mayo the monday following my stay (I'm staying sat. and sun. night). Thank you for all advice!!!! Btw I am willing to pay as high as 200, ideally a bit less. Link to comment
jbecaj
I've been trying similar dates, 5/1 to 5/4 with not much luck. The Mayweather fight is on 5/3 is keeping prices really high, plus it's Cinco de Mayo weekend. Link to comment
thereuare
d1234, Welcome to BetterBidding! I think the fight on Saturday nite is the bigger issue for your stay than the fact that it is Cinco de Mayo. You can see all hotels reported to the board in the Priceline Hotel List and determine if you want to consider bidding 5* in the Strip South zone OR prefer to lower your star rating to 4* and continue in the North zone. Personally i think the Strip South 5 star hotels are all good and would have no issues with any of them (but note that a few such as Vdara, don't have casinos, which may or may not be an issue for you) Adding 5* Strip South to your bidding will help, but $200/nite still may be a bit of a stretch at current rates (if successful it will be very close to this $200 limit) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. I've been trying similar dates, 5/1 to 5/4 with not much luck. Thanks for your post. d1234
Tried bidding $200, for 5* both Strip North and Strip (Vicininty) South .... Still no luck. Link to comment
AaronJB
I'm seeing what appears to be the Vdara or Four Seasons for $208 and the Trump for $149 on Hot.wire? Would either of these be of interest? Trump wasn't what you were looking for, but if it's $135-150 is that an appealing price for it? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
d1234
I see that on HOTWIRE too (for me i think it was saying 204$) I think i will end up doing that if I can't get a 4 or 5 star through bidding. Have you stayed at the Vadara or Trump or 4 seasons? Are they comparable to the ones on the Strip, or are they pretty inconveniently located? Link to comment
thereuare
The 5* you're seeing is most likely the Vdara (vs. the Four Seasons) I've never stayed there but have friends who have and they really liked it... the location is not an issue, imo. d1234
Ended up going through Hot.wire... got the Aria for $215 a night, comes out to $560 for two night stay with txes and fees. A bit more than I wanted to pay, but I am stoked to be in a 5* central location with a casino! Link to comment
