wardnine
Hi! Was wondering if you think maximum bid of $140 is realistic for 3.5* or better for two nights in NYC (6/6 - 6/8)? Am only willing to stay in Manhattan in the following areas: CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS, HK If so, would like to request bidding strategy, thanks!!! Link to comment

thereuare
I do think you have a good chance at a 4* within your $140 budget... do you want to try that first OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip? There are a few possibilities for the 4* HOTWIRE hotel above, the most likely of which i think is the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, but as this is currently over your budget, and it appears you will be trying to bid on PRICELINE first, we can have a closer look at this offer if your bidding fails and this is still the 4* property offered in this zone. Let us know regarding your first choice in star rating above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. wardnine
Okay, let's try first for 4* or higher within budget of $140 as you suggest. If that doesn't work think I'll just go with the $154/night deal on Hot.wire if it's still available. This same hotel was actually $142 last week so based on that would expect price to keep going up as that will be a busy weekend I think (annual Puerto Rican day parade; HBO PPV boxing at Madison Square Garden). thereuare
Sorry, one more question i forgot to ask above... In the CPS zone is the Hudson Hotel, while this property is well located, they have notoriously small rooms... would this be an acceptable outcome? (if not we'll remove CPS from your bidding) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. wardnine
Just checked out the Hudson Hotel - it would be OK with me and OK to leave CPS in my bidding, thanks... Link to comment

wardnine
Used your strategy and Priceline links and got bid accepted at $128/night at the Marriott Downtown!!! Maybe would've preferred to be closer to Times Square/Midtown but am familiar enough with getting around the city that I guess it doesn't really matter... couldn't be more pleased with this deal at the price. Terrific deal for a very highly regarded hotel, thanks!!! Link to comment
