wardnine
Requesting bidding assistance for Vegas. Coming in Friday, 5/2 and checking out Sunday, 5/4 (2 nights). Would like to stay at 4* hotel or better for maximum of $100/night. Would this be unrealistic considering it's a busy weekend (Mayweather fight)? Willing to stay in Strip North, Strip South, or Downtown Vegas. Any assistance appreciated, thanks! Link to comment
yellowdog
Anything higher than 4* wouldn't be realistic with the current rates in any zone you mention. Max $100 might work for 4* DT vegas, I think you need a higher budget (+$15-20) for the South zone. I can't see a score for the North zone (4*+) within your budget. Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and hot.wire links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog. Link to comment
wardnine
Hi, I'd be willing to go up to $120 for 4* Strip South only - don't want to pay more than $105 for Downtown, thanks... Link to comment
thereuare
Is your maximum bid for the Strip North zone also $120/nite? Even if at the moment an unlikely win in this zone at this price (rates in Vegas change more frequently than any other market in the US) it should still be included in any bidding strategy, assuming it is still acceptable, since it will help you get more bidding opportunities in the same 24 hour session. Also, would you prefer a 4* hotel in the Strip South zone at $120 vs. a 4* Downtown at $105... or would the lower price of the Downtown property prevail? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll tailor a bidding strategy to meet your goals. wardnine
Yeah, absolute maximum bid for both Strip North and Strip South $125/night (just increased it by $5) for 4* or better.. Would prefer the $105/night Downtown over the $125/night on the Strip since I'll have a rental car and believe the 4* hotel Downtown to be much preferable in terms of quality to the 4* hotels commonly won on the Strip. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Would prefer the $105/night Downtown over the $125/night on the Strip since I'll have a rental car and believe the 4* hotel Downtown to be much preferable in terms of quality to the 4* hotels commonly won on the Strip. So to confirm, do you first want to: 1) try for a 4* hotel any of the 3 zones up to $105, then if rejected increase your maximum bid towards $125 for only the Strip North and Strip South zones OR 2) first bid Downtown up to your limit, then if rejected start over for Strip North and Strip South Option #1 gets you the lease expensive 4* or better in any of the three zones, but not spend more than $105 for the Downtown zone... Option #2 favors a preference for the Downtown zone, and if a 4* on the Strip happens to be cheaper than a Downtown property, you would end up paying more for the Downtown property. Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones available. wardnine
I bid up to $107 using your PRICELINE links and bidding strategy up through the bidding for Downtown/Strip North/Strip South and was rejected. I didn't pursue your bidding strategy for 4th rebid zone/Strip North/Strip South because I preferred the Priceline.Express price of $110/night (after discount) for 4* Downtown (which I knew would be the Golden Nugget) over a random 4* (e.g., Tropicana) they might have given me on the Strip at a higher price (which would have been a long shot anyway given my price range and the hotel rates that particular weekend). I did use your discount link to make the purchase on Priceline.Express. Very satisfied with this deal, thanks! Have stayed on the Strip every other time I've been in Vegas so saw this as an opportunity to try a new location as I've heard the Golden Nugget is a very good quality hotel. Will have a rental car anyway so getting back and forth between the Strip isn't a problem. Thanks again! Link to comment
