adam777
I'm looking in to getting two rooms around thanksgiving weekend - nov. 28 - dec. 1 total of 3 nights. Specifically strip north or strip vicinity south 5* if possible.I'm wondering around this time should I start really cheap? Would it be better to wait a little longer before trying to book? I'm on a very slim budget and was hoping for possibly 60/ night. Am i really being unreasonable or is that attainable. Any advice would be great. Sorry for the newb Question This is my first post. adam777
Done. Gotta say I love the site and I've already learned so much especially with the locator of hotels around Vegas. I'm military looking to have a good time in Las Vegas around thanksgiving weekend. Link to comment
thereuare
Glad to hear you're enjoying the site. While rates for these dates are not that high, $60 for a 5* hotel is not realistic. Las Vegas actually gets busier then you might expect this weekend as those that are within driving distance (such as Los Angeles) take a road trip for the long weekend. If you're looking for a 5* hotel you'll likely need to be near the $100 mark to be successful. Are you able to stretch your budget for a 5* property OR do you want to try for a lower rated property?I am seeing what looks like the Tropicana Hotel and Casino for $53/nite for your dates... or what is most likely the Treasure Island (slight chance it's the Mirage) for $73/nite, if either of these are of interest.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we will advise accordingly. adam777
I low balled too low and my highest bid was 85 on a 5* strip north they told me I have to wait 24 hours. I thought I was close! Any advice? I'd like to book today. Link to comment
Romelle
Do you understand the concept of "free rebidding". At the 5* level, LasVegas has lots of zones that can be used to get additional bids with in the 24 hour period. If the idea is new to you, there is a discussion up in the FAQs that should be your first step. When you think you've got it, if you post back here with the list of free rebid zones somebody will double check them for you.RomellePS - I just went and counted - you should find 11 free rebid zones for bidding at the 5* level. adam777
Huh, couldn't find that discussion, but do you mean for instance adding 4.5 stars to north strip and because there isn't any hotels in the 4.5 star range I would get another bid? Link to comment

You add zones that don't have any 5*s available in Priceline bidding while you continue to increase your bid. Before bidding, in Priceline, you check each zone individually and establish which ones do not have bidding at the level you want to bid. I'd still suggest you post your understanding of the available free rebid zones before you take a run at it. It is surprising how often people think they have it but don't quite. While I'm at it, you might like the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins under the Tools menu above. And also the Hotel Lists which show all hotels members have gotten via both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.Romelle PS - A slight refinement if you are bidding a lower level - you also have to make sure the free rebid zones don't have bidding at any level above where you are bidding. This doesn't apply to 5* bidding, but thought I'd mention it for future reference. Link to comment
adam777
Ok so say I add Las Vegas airport (las) because it doesn't have any 5* hotels I can rebid. This time I'm trying 95 anything over that is over budget. Maybe 98. Am I on the right track? Link to comment
thereuare
Yes, you have the concept down correct. However, make sure you're NOT using the hotel lists on the board to determine your re-bid zones, and only using the method outlined here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedWhen bidding 5* in Las Vegas there are ELEVEN such re-bid zones, feel free to ask question and/or confirm them with the board before bidding. Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin all your bidding, searches, and travel purchases.Thanks. adam777
I went up to 100 with no success. I'm thinking of trying to get the palms for dirt cheap. Might be easy bc it's the only 4.5 star hotel west of strip. Any suggestions I was thinking of starting at 59/night Link to comment
adam777
Never mind I want the casino so looks like I need to go 4* and its between the palms and rio. Any advice?Express deals? Link to comment
adam777
I want to book this today, so any advice is appreciated. I want the palms casino not really the Rio, but I know there is always a chance. I was thinking of bidding real low like 49 or 59 a night for 4* hotels west of the strip. I also noticed express deals for 69/night with that 5% off which was tempting. Also, is there any rebidding for the 4* west of the strip? I saw hendersor and boulder strip as possibilities since there is no 4* hotels in the area. Please help! Link to comment
Romelle
Currently, at the 4.5* level, there are ten (10) free re-bid zones. And at the 4* level, there are four (4) free re-bid zones. Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
My guess for THIS PRICELINE EXPRESS DEAL (Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Restaurant, Free Parking, Business Center, Casino, Fitness Center... and check the dates on the landing page) would be The Palms... so it comes down to if you're willing to pay $65/nite ($69 - 5% Discount linked in my signature) in order to try to target this property vs. if you want to try for a lower price by bidding on PRICELINE for any 4* hotel in the zone.If you decide you want to bid for a 4* hotel in this zone let us know your maximum bid and we will advise accordingly.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
