I have been to Chicago many times, been successful bidding with Priceline, but want to avoid Thompson till they get the bugs out, and stayed at Intercontinental last time on a girls trip. Mag Mile hotel would be a possible match for the Felix, Palomar or Sax, but I'd lean towards the Sax as being most likely. Are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel?

Ready to book today, location and great hotel, going to the House of Blues on Friday, some shopping and musuems on Saturday, in town to celebrate our daughter's 25th birthday, she is a pastry chef in Chicago. So good food is a must too. Leaning to Water tower locations, but a few blocks for $100 more is a consideration. Thank you for your time.

The Sax would certainly be a great location in terms of the House of Blues (across the driveway - the Sax used to be the House of Blues hotel.) Pretty centrally located otherwise - not a bad walk to Michigan Ave and there's public transit to the museum (or a long walk on a nice day.) The River North area also has an incredibly wide variety of restaurant options. In terms of baking, The Spice House (in Old Town, right by the Lincoln Park Zoo) has wonderful cinnamon, vanilla and other ingredients (baking spices: http://www.thespicehouse.com/spices-by-category/baking-spices). La Fournette is also a pretty good bakery a couple minutes walk away.

I appreciate the help in the bidding process, I must say I am cautiously optimistic about the Ivy, haven't stayed there before, it looks nice, not on Michigan Ave which I was trying for. The location doesn't look bad, and I will remain optimistic.

Arrrggh, I missed your message about the Hotel Sax, but got the Ivy Boutique Hotel for $176 through PRICELINE. I stayed at the House of Blues Hotel once probably 10 years ago, it was unique but nice. Thanks for you thoughtful suggestions, we come into town and treat her, and she gets to see the tourist side of town for a couple days, then back to the young peoples Chicago of less expensive ways to enjoy that great city.

This is actually a very nice deal for a newer boutique (and very small property where the intent is more personalized service.) This is not on Michigan Ave but there are only a few hotels *right* on Michigan Ave. This property is really only about 2-3 short blocks from Michigan Ave, though - a very quick stroll.
