mr21 Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Arrival date: 11/25/05 for 2 nightsPreferred Zone: Rancho Mirage - Palm Desert - Indian WellsI already have a cancellable, backup room at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rancho Mirage for $135/night (including all taxes and fees). I am hoping to get a resort for approximately the same price thru Priceline.Today I bid $75 and was rejected. Added Indio (zone without resorts) and rebid $90 which was also rejected. I would consider a resort in Palm Springs but only after it seems hopeless in Rancho Mirage, etc. These are rates I found on the web:Esmarelda: $199 (AAA rate)Rancho Las Palmas:$242 (AAA rate)JW Marriott Desert Springs: $269 (AAA rate)Hyatt Grand Champions: $265Great website and thank you for any assistance.
thereuare Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Given current rates, i think if you are successful it will take 'all' of the $115 that you are willing to bid (which would approximate $135/nite after fees/taxes).At this point I would bid as follows:Select Resort Rancho Mirage....Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected wait 72 hours at which point...Select Resort Rancho Mirage....Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and keep us updated on your progress. mr21 Posted October 10, 2005 Author Report Posted October 10, 2005 Here is an update:My latest bid of $125 was rejected today. In 72 hours, I am going to start over at $100 but will also add in the Palm Springs zone on the rebids. I will keep trying for a resort and give up at $125-$135. Wish me luck.
mr21 Posted November 18, 2005 Author Report Posted November 18, 2005 It looks like I will be keeping my reservation at the Hilton Garden Inn. My max. bid of $125 for a resort was not accepted. Then I also tried for a 2.5* but gave up at $77. Thanks thereuare for your help and I will try again when we go back to Palm Springs in April, 2006.
