Candoeller711
I need some bidding advice for a 3.5* in Hilton Head. Dates: Monday, July 29- Friday, August 1The only hotel I could win is The Beach House resort by Holiday Inn. The bidding strategy that I have been using is:- use Hilton Head Island zone, 3.5* - add on the Bluffton zoneThe lowest I have bid is $100 all the way up to $110. Can you give me some advice? I won this same property last year for the exact same week for $100/night.Thanks :-) Candice Link to comment

thereuare
The only hotel I could win is The Beach House resort by Holiday Inn.Not sure how you determined this but it's not true... While this may be the only 3.5* hotel reported to the board in this zone... there could also be others (such as the Marriott Grand Ocean or the Marriott Villas Surf Watch). Even if these properties don't participate in the bidding side of PRICELINE, your 3.5* could be upgraded to a 4* hotel in the zone, as the star rating you choose is the minimum you are willing to accept.Let's assume for a moment that your premise above is correct... with just one hotel in the zone it's possible that this property has higher then usual demand for these dates, doesn't have any excess inventory that they feel that they can't sell on their own or at full rates, and therefore doesn't give any deeply discounted inventory to PRICELINE. In such a situation you could continue to bid all the way up to full retail and still not get an accepted bid.Are you opposed to a 4* hotel for this trip? PRICELINE EXPRESS currently has a 4* hotel offered for $132/nite, using the link and code in my signature brings this down to about $125/nite, would this rate be worth the upgrade in star level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
