mphysick
I am trying to find a 4/5* room in Venice (island) for the 3 nights from 6/8/13 to 6/11/13. I am prepared to bid up to $150. Could you please advise if you think I am being realistic and perhaps a bidding strategy? Link to comment
thereuare
Did you want to first try for a 5* hotel up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 4* property OR is the goal the least expensive 4* or better for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
Just to clarify, the Venice zone also includes some of the smaller island south of the 'main' island... i assume these are acceptable? When bidding 5* in this region you have one re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Venice...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120Re-try every 24 hours increasing each bid by $5 (so $125/$130, $135/$140, $145/$150) until you reach your maximum bid. If rejected at that point we'll revise to try for both 4* and 5* bidding after that. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board each time you bid (and not any links in an email that PRICELINE may send informing you that 24 hours have passed since your last bid and that eligible to bid again)Good luck and let us know how it goes... keep us updated on your progress. mphysick
I tried bidding for a 5* hotel up to $150 in Venice as you suggested but was unsuccessful. I'll now try bidding for 4* up to $150. Do you have any bidding suggestions as there is no rebid zone for 4* in Venice? Link to comment
thereuare
Unfortunately you have no re-bid zones at the 4* level so only one bid at a time... with time on your side you can still start at $100 and increase by $5 every 24 hours (but my guess is that it will take close to $150 or more to be successful). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck! mphysick
I ended up booking a 5* hotel through Hotwire for $164 so I'll start a topic and report my win in that forum. Link to comment
mphysick
After trying unsuccessfully with Priceline bidding up to $150, I tried Hotwire and got this hotel. I had friends stay here and they really loved it. I was fairly sure this was the hotel when I booked and luckily it was!
