Frankypoo
Hello!I used this strategy before to find a room in NYC just before Chrismas but now I want to return in May and was wondering if it's still the best way to get the best price.4 stars +CPS + MTE + MTW + ESB + HK - 140$+ rebid 1 - 145$+ rebid 2 - 150$+ rebid 3 - 155$+ rebid 4 - 160$+ rebid 5 - 165$+ rebid 6 - 170$ Got all rejected, closedTS + MSG + Chelsea + FD - 140$+ rebid 1 - 145$+ rebid 2 - 150$+ rebid 3 - 155$+ rebid 4 - 160$+ rebid 5 - 165$+ rebid 6 - 170$ Got all rejected, closedCPS + MTE + MTW + ESB + TS - 175$+ rebid 1 - 180$+ rebid 2 - 185$+ rebid 3 - 190$+ rebid 4 - 195$+ rebid 5 - 200$+ rebid 6 - 205$ Got all rejected, closedMSG + Chelsea + Soho + HK + FD 175$+ rebid 1 - 180$+ rebid 2 - 185$+ rebid 3 - 190$+ rebid 4 - 195$+ rebid 5 - 200$+ rebid 6 - 205$ Got all rejectedNow, I don't want to go that high (205$) since I can book on my own and choose my hotel for about the same price once you count everything.I'm planning to start at 130 to end at 195. If that doesn't work I'll probably just call the place I stayed at in December and book directly closer to the trip date.Do you think this is a good way of getting a deal?Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
You won't need to bid as high as $195. Assuming all these zones are still acceptable:CPS + MTE + MTW + ESB + HK + TS + MSG + Chelsea + FDI would bid as follows using your SIX re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE + MTW + ESB + TS + MSG + Chelsea + FD...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS + HK...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE + MTW + ESB + TS + MSG + Chelsea + FD + CPS...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE + MTW + ESB + TS + MSG + Chelsea + FD + HK...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS + MTE + MTW + ESB + HK + TS + MSG + Chelsea + FD...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Frankypoo
Just to let you know that I tried it a few times already (both my way and your) and no luck... I even bumped it to 175 once and still could not win.I'm in no hurry and I'm also considering going to Boston or Quebec City for this trip so it will be whichever city gets me a good deal first! But now I'm wondering if I should try for a 3.5 stars since I would prefer going to NYC B) Link to comment
thereuare
HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $165/nite with:Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... this may be the Roosevelt, but my first guess would be the Doubletree Metropolitan.Would this work for your need? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Frankypoo
I don't know if it's because I'm accessing it from Canada, but I don't have that deal on HOTWIRE. I have what I think would be the same property, but at 186$.I'll continue bidding for now but I always keep an eye on these deals as they are really usefull to decide how much I can bid. AaronJB
Rates will often vary slightly from person-to-person. Are you looking at HOTWIRE in CAD$ or USD$. If CAD$, please switch to USD$ using the currency tab in the upper corner.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
Frankypoo
I was looking at it in CAD, but even in USD it still shows 180$. Link to comment
AaronJB
Are you seeing a listing with the same amenities at $180? If so, if you click "see details" to go to the detail page and then scroll down, do you see a 3.5/5 tripadvisor rating (tripadvisor logo + 3.5/5 circles shaded)? If so, my guess would be the Roosevelt.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
thereuare
Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.Using the above method are you able to view this property? What about if using BiddingHelper.com?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Frankypoo
Well it paid to be patient!I just won the Roosvelt Hotel for 145$! That's almost half price from what it's retailing for these dates! :D It's a much better deal than my last PL attempt! Very nice location and a good price, what could I ask more. Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're pleased with the result for this very busy time of year in NYC.You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
