Hotwire Hotel: Please Help Identify 5* The Strip South Area Hotel

Search Dates: March 10-15

My search turned up three 5-star hotels in the SOUTH Strip Area, two of which do NOT list a casino as an amenity. The only 5-star South Strip hotels that do not have casinos are Vdara, Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons. I'm pretty sure the cheaper of the two must be Vdara, both because of the price and because Vdara rooms have kitchenettes and are true suites. So am I safe in assuming the other one MUST be Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons? I'd be thrilled with either for the price. Here are the descriptions:

Thanks again! (And yes, I began my search using the HOTWIRE link on this site).

Best guess is that the 2nd hotel is something other than the Vdara, but as we have not yet seen a hotel reported to the board wit this amenity set, there is no way to know if it is the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, or some other 5* property.

Given this 'other' 5* hotel gets 5.0 across the board from previous guests, and one of the criteria is 'Location', of the two i'd tend to favor the Mandarin Oriental more so than the Four Seasons since i don't consider the Four Seasons location to be 'great' given it's location at the southern most end of the strip.

Hmm... that's a good point about the location. Still, I would be surprised if it's Mandarin Oriental since there haven't been any other reports of people getting that hotel on Hotwire. I did find one post from someone who did get Four Seasons, so I'm more inclined to think it might be that.

I hope to make a decision on our plans by tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. I will report back if I do go for this Hotwire deal.

Thanks!

The rate has gone up to $150 per night since I last checked.

If I decided to book this trip, what do you think of purchasing just one night, then if the revealed hotel is acceptable, perhaps I could go back and book four more nights? If it's showing as available for all 5 nights, is there any risk to breaking it down this way? I can't remember if Hotwire is like Priceline, where after the bid is accepted you have sometimes have the option of adding extra nights at the same rate.

Thanks again.

Better then making sure that the hotel shows for all 5 nites, better to see if it appears for the one solo nite and then again for the other 4 nites, since this is how you'd actually be making the purchase. There is always a chance that after the first purchase the hotel disappears when looking for the remaining nites, but by searching HOTWIRE for the actual split dates that you would be purchasing, you lessen the chance of this happening.

So we got 25cm of snow here yesterday, and I guess that inspired me to book a beach resort holiday instead of Las Vegas. Thank you for your help with this inquiry anyway. Judging from another recent posting it looks like it was for Mandarin Oriental -- what a great deal!

Did you book via HOTWIRE or PRICELINE? It would be greatly appreciated if you could post the details of your purchase as a separate thread in the appropriate forum - thanks.

Enjoy your stay.
